Default External FI pump for a regular gas tank?

I haven't even started on this problem yet, but I want to get some ideas. I'm working on a '70 Vista Cruiser wagon. The gas tanks are unique and somewhat rare. They are not repoped, so I really don't want to destroy the one I have. What could I do to make it suitable for FI? What is a better way to go?

I was thinking,

Modifying a sender unit and installing the pump in-tank
or
external pump....

Here' s a pic of what the tank looks like.

The tall tank in the wagon will have no suel starbation problems with an external pump.

I just sold my 71 SS wagon so I know what that tank looks like. I agree the tall tank would work fine with the external pump. That's what I was thinking of doing had I kept the wagon and put an LS in it....
