Hey Guys,

I'm having an issue, and was looking for a bit of advice. :)

I have a '97 Trans Am, and the Low Oil Light comes on when I turn the ignition on (like all the other lights) and stays on. I've checked the oil several times now, and while it may be slightly low, I can't imagine it's coming on for that. What's odd about it, is I can shut the ignition off (before even starting the car), then turn it back on, and the Low Oil Light will shut off.

For the quick description, basically if I just hop in the car, and start it, the Low Oil light will stay on. If I turn on the ignition (don't have to start it), then turn off, then back on, the Low Oil Light will shut off.

Any ideas? Sensor, maybe?

Thanks!

Sounds like a sensor issue to me. If you still have the factory exhaust you will have to pull the left ( drivers side) cat to get the sensor out.

Sounds like the problem I had with my 95 Camaro and currently have with my 96 Grand Prix it's from a bad oil level sensor. On a nice car I'd fix it, on my beater GP the low oil light goes well with my low coolant light because I'm to cheap/lazy to replace that sensor also.

Thanks for the replies guys. I really appreciate it. Sensor sounds like the culprit. Thanks again!
