Default 02ss vs 09/10 srt8 challenger

Ok i was on my way to work when i get stuck at a light. A orange challenger just happens to turn onto the road i was going down. light changes as soon as he gets in the lane. i hurry and ease my way up to him then i see the srt8 badge. i start thinking to myself this should be fun never ran a challenger before let alone a srt8. we go through a couple lights then we catch a red we are side by side at the line, light turns we slowly take off and as if we were reading each others mind we simultaneously floor it at the same time(around 15-20mph) i pull half a car (me 6speed him auto) hit second break them loose for a second grab traction and by the beginning of 3rd im 1-1 1/2 cars ahead. we shut them down after i hit 3rd (red light ahead). i figured he woulda pulled on me. i was very suprised to beat him. only mods i have is slp catback and k&n drop in filter. (does he need driver mod? or was this a legit win?)

Sounds about right. I would eat them for breakfast and save some for dinner. Beautiful cars but really heavy. I know if it was same weight as our F bodies u would of lost this one. Expect more wins when u run some SRT's.(except the modded "tuned" ones)

I would start thinking about getting some more mods. A lot of cars are coming out with 400+ HP stock now. :/

Sounds right. Lots of variances anyway for him - heat soak, ESP on, manually shifting the automatic or not, etc. Nice kill!

all I hear is excuses. I've beat some with the "ESP" off. Fully off. He can shine in here too he posts on here.

Nice kill man. Those poor mopar guys got a raw deal with the first few years of the challenger. Now the new 392 runs damn good.

Great kill and I could call it a legit win. They are awesome and fun cars but still bottom 13 second cars stock none the less same as a strong stockish fbody.

I never lost to an Fbody that had the same mods as me, street or strip. Stock, CAI only, I/E, I/E/T, etc. Heatsoak/pulled timing is notorious, full tank of gas won't help either.

Driver's race.

I took an srt-8 challenger from a 45-125 roll and had him by about 2 cars the whole race, so i believe its a legit win.

OP what kinda gas did you have in your car? Cause if it was anything better then 91 octane it is a race car.

not entirely, if both cars were running the same gas then itsa more apples to apples comparison. since this wasnt a timed event, then no asterisk is applied LOL

pre-2011 SRT8's run very similar mphs and times as an LS1 car, with advantage to the chally. +600lbs almost completly wipes out its +75hp (60rwhp) advantage

Ahh see have to add an asterisk because the OP was in a manual and the other was an auto. So it was not a fair fight.

i would have made a mental note about it if it warranted it but the dodge 5 speed has proven to be just as efficient as a manual. transmission choices generally dont change my views on what a street car should be. good catch though
