I personally have used the Dougs adapter plates

Dougs

Used them in my 66 and they worked out great. I have seen others with the later 68-72 A body as well as X-body that have had great luck with these. Yes they are more then double the cost of what you linked but never heard of a problem from them.

Depending on what else your trying to do and use.. they should work ok. SBC Frame Stand and Early Standard Motor Mounts are what everyone usually uses with those type of standard plates. That and Poly (Energy Suspension Mounts) (Not BBC ones, you might need to modify them to work).

There should be to types of mounts.. Short / Wide and Tall / Narrow, the frame Stands have to match..
this might help..page #13

Suggest you research on what all of the other A-Body guys uses..

Good Luck,

Not being a Chevy guy, can you link me to some SBC Frame Stands? I thought these were.

The frame stands do look correct, but they did make two frame stands. But you should be able to make either one work with the correct motor mount, Height might be different. (?). You don't want them for BBC, L6 or 307's... 350 one are the ones most used.

Summit doesn't give very good information on which ones the are. States for both SBC and BBC. They are the OPG ones.. and there catalog doesn't state which ones either..

a few.. there is also National Parts Depot, Trueconnection, etc..

There are 2 styles of frame mounts and 2 styles of motor mounts. This might help explain.

And I thought Pontiacs were quirky... The ones I have from Summit appear to fit both SBC and BBC frame holes. I have the bolted up but the block just won't quite make it down, 1/2 a hole to go to get the motor mount bolts through.

My 72 Olds from was drilled for both the Olds and chevy mounts. When I put the short/wide motor ounts and adapter plates on the block, I had to add 1/4" plates between the adapter plates and motor mounts to line up with the chevy frame mounts.
I've seen quite a few others do the same. It also helps with tie rod, oil pan clearance.

The BBC and the SBC frame stands were the same for 68-72 cars. The only different frame stands were for the 307. All the repop frame stands are the same for 68-72 Chevelles. I am not aware of anyone reproducing the 307 frame stands. YOu want to use the tall/narrow engine mounts with the bbc/sbc frame stands. The 307 stands were taller and used the short/wide engine mounts. Keep in mind that as pong as the right frame stands are used with their respective mounts, the engine will fit fine.
