Convertible Vehicles - mini tubs on a vert

I have a 99 z and i smashed the stock rear diff to ruble, no surprise, was just a matter of time. any way what im getting at is i am going to be putting in a mid west rear end and thought well i got that out mini tubs and get rid of the little bit of tire rub i get when i corner hard, so can this be done and still keep the use of the drop top and the boot to cover it up.

Only problem I see is with the hydraulic arms directly in way of the tub area. I would like to do the same w mine.
