Default 4L60-E dead again

Well, my Pro Yank 4L60E went out last night, it has 3 or 4k on it. The tires were spinning near the top of second gear and when it went to shift to 3rd the engine was just all over the rev limiter. After that...no 3rd or 4th gear..3-4 clutch pack I would guess. Trans fluid looks pretty clean but smells burnt. First and second gear work perfectly, though. I had a nice 20+ mile ride home at 25 mph in second gear.

I called yank but the answering machine said he will be gone until next week. I don't know what I'm gonna do. This is the second time the transmission has been out in the car in less than 5k miles, and I seriously am not that hard on it. The Pro Yank transmission has 3 passes on it at the track.

I should have just bought a TH400 when the stock transmission quit on me, but no overdrive would seriously drive me nuts even with 3.23 gears.

Try Rossler before you go hillbilly with the TH400 set up. I have had mine in for a few weeks and it is perfect. I run mid 11's with nearly 4000 lb race weight on radials, so the car is making good power and so far, the tranny is fine (probably 30 full throtle passes in the last couple of nights). I am adding nitrous soon, so I will post how that goes. I haven't heard of anyone breaking a Rossler tranny, except for the LPE TT vette that runs 8.9's and that has now been fixed with the latest incarnation of Rossler's trans. I think Big Mike broke the tail shaft on a Rossler TH-350, but this is in a low 9 second race car!! Be prepared to spend $2695 with a GOOD core plus s/h plus deep pan...nothing good is cheap!

Yet another quality Yank product and the customer service to go along with it. Hey Steve, how much is the tranny you are talking about? Shipping shouldn't be overwhelming. I shipped a tranny from Pittsburgh to Phoenix and it was only $110.00 so it shouldn't be that bad.

I've read about that someone else just pulled there Yank tranny and found nothing more than stock internals. Waste of money buying a Yank tranny.

I talked to rossler today about thier 4L60 transmission. The guy was saying that one of the key features of thier transmission is the larger size 3-4 clutch pack. I still don't know what I'm going to do for sure, though.

My brother has a FLP level IV in his car. It is a 11.20 car and he's ran it on the track countless times and driven it every day to work for a year and a half now without a single problem. That trans has really impressed me.
