Hey guys, I have a 2008 G8 GT all stock except tuned with HP Tuners and Vararam CAI. Stock everything else, I want to pick up power and mostly torque. I used to race ls1 camaros and I remember how much diff a converter made. I'm not gonna go to that extreme with the GT, such as headers, cam, heads, ect. for a while anyways. I would like to have maybe a 2800 stall, something not too big. I was wondering what kind of mpg loss I'm talking cuz I do drive this car on trips pretty regular. And which would be best? My only converters I have ever had were vigilante and I never had any trouble. Im sure this has been discussed on here. Any input is appreciated...

Expect to lose a few mpg. Id get a yank ss3200. Big enough to post good gains, yet small and tight enough to not give up much driveability.

Yeah, I figured a 2800 cuz that what I had on my ls1 Camaro an I loved how it performed! Didn't kill the gas milage either. I could give up maybe 2 mpg but wouldn't like to give much more than that.

It will cost you about 2-3 mpg. It will make it much more fun to drive. I would do a set of headers at the same time since they have to be removed to pull the trans. Headers will make a big improvement as well and are easy to install on a G8.

Yeah I didn't want to spend that much at one time for sure. Ha I have to sve a while first!

I'm looking at a 3400 from yank, from others they seem to be 95%+ efficient...

I'd got a 3600, that's the biggest I'd go, but I agree with what Tainted said with the 3200. You'll lose 1-3 MPG on the City, but the highway will be unaffected due to the converter locking.
