Default CMS C6 z06 E85 Results

Well we have been toying around with the idea of putting my 08 C6Z on E85. After doing some extensive research on not only E85 but the C6Z's fuel system we started by dissecting a $350 plus fuel pump assembly to figure out exactly what we had to work with in the tank and if we would need more pump. After we had decided on our fuel pump setup we contact Jon at Fuel Injector Connection to pick up a set of his in house built LS2 bodied 1000CC Billet tipped injectors. In order to ensure we wouldn't have fuel pressure loss up top we installed a MSD Fuel Pump Booster. We went with this unit because it has a computer interface that allowes us to actually plot out the fuel pump voltage v. engine air flow as opposed to just an on off switch like other units. After minor tuning the car was running great. There is no sacrifice in drivability what so ever. After the part throttle tuning was complete we strapped it to the dyno to see what she was putting down. By the end of tuning we were all very impressed with the results. The power carried out further than it had previously and the car put down 641.3hp and 576.4tq.

To those of you that don't know the car this is just a simple setup on a stock un-touched bottom end. The car is equiped with a custom CMS cam, Richard at WCCH stage 2 ported heads with competition valve job and SS exhaust valves, Kooks 1 7/8 headers with custom exhaust, cometic .040 head gaskets, in house ported FAST 102 with NW 102 throttle body and Halltech 107R intake.

Great results! How much did you end up changing the timing between the tunes for the fuel change (before/after E85)?

on the 91 octane 19-20 degrees max, 91+two cans of torco 24 degrees, e85 27 degrees, i could put more in but it didnt make anymore more power, but i running the e85 at a leaner lambda as well .85 versus .83...

Were the 95lb injectors mandatory for that amount of power on E?

Hows the gas mileage? I always hear people getting shitty mileage because there damn tuner does nothing for there part throttle/cruising afr.

Mileage depends on how lazy the tuner is to be honest. Cursing mileage for a few is unchanged and for some with a good tune still lose close to 20%

Good to know. Running it at .85 is interesting too.

another combination might pickup from a leaner mixture, mine didnt so why run it that way.... even on gas from my experience ls7's generally dont react that great to lean mixtures, but that has only been my experience
