Default vvt oil pump question

A local shop told me they were using vvt oil pumps on their ls1 and 6.0 builds. They said they were high volume pumps. I can get one local at GM dealer for around $78.00 and thought this is a cheap way to get a hv pump for my 2004 6.0 build. I have a truck pan cut down to the size of an fbody pan. I did the 1/2 hole mod on the lifter trays. I'm also running ls7 lifters with a ms4 cam. Will this work or will it be to high of a pressure, or will it suck my pan dry? Thanks for the help.

The shop told me they were getting a little over 80psi on the top side and around 60 at idle. Do you think that is a little high?

80 is lots, but I don't think it's going to hurt anything besides cost a couple hp

has anyone tried this in an ls1 or 6.0? One that did not start out as a vvt motor?
