Default FTP lid or MTI clear lid?

I recently bought 98mm FTP lid with 85mm GM MAF and I'm at a cross road at this point. Should I ditch my clear lid and forego with FTP lid or keep the clear lid and sell the FTP lid?

If I'm going to keep the FTP lid, I'm going to paint it to either gloss black or dark shadow grey (same color as my LS6 intake) and of course, I'm going to apply a primer filler to smooth out the FTP lid.

Or should I just keep both however I don't see the need of having two lids.

This is my engine bay looks like minus the MAF ported ends.

If you do go with the FTP lid , I might be interested in the clear lid since you`re in the UK lol , and if you do go with the FTP lid , you might wanna do it gloss black and paint the air tray as the same colour as your LS6 manifold ? or vice versa , there was a thread with good ideas about custom painted lids and manifolds ..

Go with the bigger combo and sell the MTI lid. They are hard to find these days in good shape and I believe there arent more than a couple new ones floating around.

If I had a clear lid, it'd be for show (and I don't show).
I'd expect it to yellow and scuff up over time, so a
plain black lid for beating and a clear lid for buffing is
not a bad idea.

I say black lid simply because I hate the clear lids.

I love the look of a clear lid (I had one on my Z) but I wouldn't do it again. I'd go with the FTP one if I were you.

I have the FTP, actually it was too rough for me. I don't like or see the point of the rough texture. So I'm sanding my down with 80grit, then some primer and gloss black. Also gonna paint my hi rise lid base gloss black. And then lay my red star logo in the center of the lid

Yeah, I didn't do my homework on this one. I bought one from Thunderracing and they supplied me the old style.

My clear lid is suprisingly still clear being the lid is 6 years old.

These clear lids are becoming like the candy corn tail lights which one of the reason I want to keep mine. But money talks... If someone offers me money that I can't refuse, I'll sell it.

I didn't like the dimple/rough texture either. I'll have to smooth mine out as well.

MTI clear lid has the ooohh, ahhh effect when I pop my hood up at the car meets. My most memorable ones were handful of import owners and mustangs owners complimenting about the clear lid not the LS1 when I popped the hood to cool the motor off after I ran my car 12.2 @ 110 at the track with just bolt ons.

I'm not sure if you're serious but I'll sell it if I like the offer.

Why do hate it, if you don't mind me asking?

I had a clear MTI lid and moved to the FTP 104 when I noticed the back of my MTI had nearly an inch of gap between the lid and the filter. I had to lay almost 3 layers of weather stripping at the throat to get it to seal. Switched to the FTP and it fit perfectly.

Loved the look, not the fact that my filter was bypassed...

Didn't have the gap however i had to trim (notch) the base lid on mine because of the stock maf was hitting the base and not sealing the lid.

I checked that site again and it didn't show any price or link to where you can buy it.

Do you even know what your engine bay looks like?

Kidding, you'll get to it

I liked the clear lid when I had a Holley blue filter, but it just didn't seal!
