Default Broke Out the Porter Cable Last Night...

I originally posted this in the wrong section. Anyway, we've had some horrible rain over the last 6 weeks...on & off...and my paint took a severe beating. So I decided to break out the Porter Cable and some goo.

WOW. Does the rain really mess with your paint that bad?...or is it just pronounced because your car is black

Lots of road grime with the rain. Drove through a construction zone several times in the last month and collected dust, etc. I suppose it's still a little misleading. The last time I polished the car was sometime before Halloween. And dark colors definitely show more faults.

02ws.sik: Lake Country pads and Meguiars Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Wax. Pad I used to polish was probably the equivalent to using a foam applicator pad.

After washing...about 2 hours. A lot less than doing a correction.

So to wash the car, do paint correction, and wax it took 2 hrs. Also do you do the wax by hand or on the buffer some how?

i've been applying sealant on a soft red application pad on my PC at about 3.5 and i would guess most people that have one do something similar.

I'd consider what I did maintenance...not paint correction. The polish and wax alone took me about 2 hours after I washed the car. I apply and remove wax by hand almost every time. I usually use the buffer to polish.

nope, not on a lower speed with a non-cutting pad. you also don't really apply any pressure beyond the weight of the PC. i've been watching all the videos made by mike phillips. his videos are extremely helpful and i have learned a ton in the last few weeks from them. here's him applying a sealant with a PC.

your work shows it. i still have a LOT to learn since i just started getting into serious detailing thanks to GoFast. i wish improvements were as drastic on my silver car as they are on a darker color.
