Default K-member for turbo.. can UMI k be used?

i know BMR makes a specific TURBO K-MEMBER
but i want to stick with UMI since all my suspension thus far is UMI (i know.. i know.. its just a preference)

Does any one have a Truck Turbo or any turbo kit with the UMI unit?

Sure there is a way it could be done, some have even done it with grinding/cutting on a stock K-member. I used the BMR turbo K-member, wanted to drop a few pounds anyway.

It all depends on your kit. If it fits a stock k-member it will most likely fit any aftermarket k-member. The BMR will gain you a little clearance over other k-members. Alot of guys have used the PA racing and UMI k-members with good success.

We do know the APS kit works with our K-member. If you are running a single turbo there is no issue and twin will work as well. The turbo k-members offer more room for larger downpipes. But we have seen a lot of APS systems with our k-member.

I hope that helps!

It really depends on what size down pipe you want to use on your set up. We have gotten as big as 5" down pipe to work with our turbo k-members. Our BMR turbo k-members will give you more clearance and free up a few pounds off the front of the car. If you have nay questions I can help you out with let me know.

Thanks,
Kyle

Here are a couple pictures of the two k-members to show the differences between the two.

Those pictures do a good job of showing the difference in clearance.

However just a note on picture #2, because of our tube design our k-member sits higher when on a surface. To get an accurate comparison the BMR k-member in front would need lifted about 1-1/2" for a more accurate comparison.

Just a little nit-picking on my end

Did you route yours outboard of the bars that go up to the frame? I've seen some that go outside those bars (closer to the lower control arm) unlike the BMR turbo K-member.

Me too. It's tight, but it works.

I have a BMR, you can jack the car up on it if you want, have a 4" DP right now and gonna do a 5" on my next build (FWIW).

The strength between our normal BMR k-member and our turbo k-member are pretty much identical. You won't have any issues using a turbo k-member for doing some road course and other handling oriented driving.

I have the APS kit with UMI's k-member. It works so damn well that I can't wait to sell it to some other poor sucker and get BMR's. I'm sick of my intakes sucking shut!!! And no matter what, UMI refuses to create something similar to the "BMR-APS" hybrid K-member. I shouldn't have to beg, you know?

When you are ready for a BMR "APS" k-member give us a call.
