Default Blower Cam in NA LS1

Hello all,

I have a 2000 LS1 with the stock cam that I plan to upgrade to a centrifugal supercharger later in the year. I am pulling the engine to finally install my dry sump and want to change the cam while it is out. The stock cam is silly small and was wondering if there is going to be any big negative to putting a blow cam but running it NA for now.

I was thinking the FM-F7-114.

"FMS Custom Grind Camshaft - 224"/230" .588"/.595" 114LSA - aggressive profile with a 1800-6800 RPM range, fair idle, recommended for blower/nitrous applications"

But any recommendations are welcome.

Unless the ls1 blows up this season I plan on running low boost on the procharger to keep it alive when it gets installed.

Thanks.

Intereting FaseDriver1992, that looks like a much larger cam than the one I was picking. Hmmm.

Does anybody know one that is slightly smaller but still good for prochargers?

I'm am running almost that identical cam ( comp cam xer273...224/230 .58x .58x 114lsa) in a ported 243 head, ls6 intake, bolt on 346 ls1 car and if you wouldn't have sAid its a blower cam I never would have known, my car rips like hell all the way to the 6800 rpm redline...believe you might not even want the supercharger (jk every1 wants a blower!) but for real you will love that cam...it doesn't give up any hp or tq down low compared to stock cam

The Brute Speed blower cam to me seems much larger than yours Wild.

236/242 .578/.592 on 115 LSA

+12/+12.

But I think I'm looking for something in the same range range as yours, if not yours. I am drifting/road racing and would prefer to stay away from the .6 lift for safety, and have a nice area under the curve.

Do you have a dyno graph by chance?

Thanks.

That cam profile will work great both ways in either a N/A application and F/I so don't worry. I just wonder why your a putting a dry sump oilling system on it?

Hello JPH,

This is actually going in my 1988 Mazda Rx7 that I am using for Pro-Am this year. I drifted all last season just fine but they were smaller, low speed tracks. Drifting banked 5/8 nascar tracks this year, and don't want to starve the engine of oil. I decided to skip the accusump and go straight to dry sump.

Here is an example of me in the slow track (poor audio):

Here is an example of me at a larger track but I had too big of tires, so I was having trouble holding the drift when it dried out. Real fast though. :

I love the Ls1, will never go back.

Thanks for asking.

I see now. That makes more sense to me and the engines lubrication system. ARE system or someone else?

Modifying the stock pan for pickup, and pushing the oil back through the stock oil filter fitting. Going as cheap as possible.

It seems a little too large for my setup.

It really sounds like it would work well for what you have. Bob

Is it just me or does 232/240 sound huge?

Raptor_WS6, do you have a dyno graph by chance?

Maybe this graphic is too old and out dated?
