Pontiac GTO 2004-2006 - Black fluid on the rear tires

I noticed that my back rims were getting dirty very fast. I looked under the car yesterday and saw black fluid running down my exhaust pipes and spraying out on the rims. The fluid is coming from right above the joint where the driveshaft and the diff. meet. The bottom of the car (right about this joint and above the diff) is soaked. The bottom of the diff is dry and clean. I can not tell where it is coming from. Exhaust leak? Bad seal on the Diff? Any help would be much appreciated. I have an 05' manual.

Ok let lmao for a while. Exhaust leak??? What do you think comes out of the exhaust? It is going to be a bad seal or something in the diff. Its not runnimg down the drive shaft to the diff is it?

Possibly moister and carbon mixing and leaking out...just thought it was an option. No, there is no trail of fluid going down the drive shaft. Just fluid all over the bottom of the car and all over the exhaust pipes. If it is the seal, how hard will it be to fix?

If it's a fluid, most likely coming from the diff.

And if it's black, most likely you need to change your diff fluid.

Its going to be a pita you can buy a rebuild kit from texas speed.

Yup, fairly common

Touch it and smell your finger!!!!! There will be no mistaking it if it is from your rear diff. Smells terrible

most likely something leaking. i have two rear seal leaks fixed under warranty.

It could be a CV Joint boot leaking and The Grease slinging on your Wheel....
