Default What head gaskets should I use and a few other questions for head swap?

I am swapping heads for ported 799's and need to know what head gaskets is everybody using, if I have a stock bottom end ls1 except the cam. Also should I replace the lifter trays if the motor has a 110,000miles on the clock. Also are the bolts on the intake manifold stretch bolts and should I get those new as well?

It depends if the heads are milled and what cam do you have but cometic are very popular ones.

More likely a .45 or .50 cometic mls 3.910 bore should be good, you don't wanna go lower than that cause the clearance. You can also call TSP to see what they say cause that's their cam.

If super high compression isn't neccesary then I would go with GM mls head gasket, they r quality gaskets...but if you want all out compression I'd use the cometic, they are basically double the price of the GM ones...as long as you dont use the crappy graphite ones you will be good...also I wouldn't worry about wasting money on lifter trays since you are swapping heads anyway, I would only get new ones if you plan on. Hanging the cam once the heads are on

When people swap heads they normally replace the lifters and trays with the newer version. Apparently older style trays had an issue with the lifter twisting if I remember correctly inside the tray. since you must take the head off to get to a lifter anyway during the head swap it is a good idea to go ahead and put in new lifters. The LS7 lifter and LS2 lifter tray are the standard that everyone uses. trays are like 8 bucks each.
