Though sadly I'm sure the Toyota + Other Japanese cars are so much better hype wont die down. At least not for a while.

The bankruptcy basically told Chrysler and GM to step it up. I drove a newer Sebring. Although I'm not a Chrysler man. Oh my.... it was incredible. The entire car from the ground up not only looked amazing but was a good week while the explorer was in the shop. I can only imagine what other new cars such as the cruze would feel like compared to their older models.

and it seems like the opposite has happened with toyota from my personal experience. We own a 99 camry and a 11 corolla, and so far, the corolla has had a bunch more small problems than the older camry.

I'd call it more like GM fell from the 2nd floor, did a faceplant on the concrete, picked themselves up, and are still in the healing stages with the nose still busted and plenty of other injuries still healing. Certainly not at their lowest point, but still have a ways to go.

They didn't pick themselves up at all. They were DOA without help.

Let's not get into semantics, and besides, I wrote that at nearly 2:30 AM so give me a little slack. Geez :P

weird, as i said, weve got a 99 camry that we bought brand new, and ive got around 3 friends who have also own/ed camrys and none of them have had any problems other than normal wear. IMO, camrys are pretty reliable cars.

They are. Good to see GM doing well, though.

No car is perfect.

Given that the Camry is also the A to B appliance of the car world, there are probably a wide section of their ownership base that knows as much about car maintenance as they do Sanskrit.

Japanese tsunami says "you're welcome."
GM is making much better vehicles now than it was 10 years ago though. I see some well-built cars from top to bottom of their current lineup.
