While I'm waiting to get my car back from the body shop I'm going to go ahead and have my heads milled some for a bump in compression and I'm just wondering how much I should shave without having to worry about piston to valve clearance. Thanks

The best bet is to measure PTV before milling...since that cam has 231 deg
@ .050 intake duration, there is not alot of room for milling without cutting
valve reliefs into the stock flat-tops. I'm sure some people have done this
and can maybe get away .010-.015, but I doubt .020-.040" is possible.

A 241 with a stock valve job won't have much room with a 230+ duration XE-R cam. You can run a .015 clean up pass, but that'd be about as far as I would go.

Or, get a camshaft custom spec'd to your application that will have more PTV so you can have the compression you want.

Honestly the only reason I'm even messing with it is because I've got everything to do the cam swap sitting in my building and I'm afraid its all going to ruin if I don't use it but I figured I would give it a bump in compression while I was at it. I'd rather change the heads than fight with those valve springs anyway plus it'll give me a chance to swap lifters and trays while I'm at it. Its got 120k on it and the heads have probably 60 something on them with new springs all ready installed. Thanks

Supposedly, my 241's were milled to .030 and work fine with a Torquer 2. (Texas MTI 2E) I never verified it to be true.
