LS1 intake or LS6

LS1 intake or LS6
How much power will i be leaving on the table if i use an LS1 intake after i get my new heads on? It's an 01 so it had an LS6 intake but i sold that a while ago but i'm wanting to get the car on the road so i'm thinking about using this non-egr ls1 intake i have. Do you think it will hurt my setup much? I was going to run a FAST 102 but i don't feel like dumping $1300 on an intake/TB right now, or i may pick up another LS6 down the road too.

Ok, IDK what your setup consists of, But I assume it's a LS1 with H/C/Stall/Bolt Ons/ Etc. ??
But again, IDK what you have. So assuming you have the above....
IMHO, The LS1 intake is going to hurt your power for sure.
Will it get you by? Yes!
Would it be better to replace it now, rather than buying 1 in the near future and paying for a retune? That's up to you. I would do it now and save the $ I would have to pay for a retune.
I would "At Least" buy an LS6 Intake if the $$ is not there for a FAST.
FWIW, My brother picked up 24 rwhp and 39 ft lbs of torque on his LS1 H/C/I stalled auto combo. Just by switching from a LS1 intake to a FAST 92/92. In fact those #'s were with his fuel pump not keeping up either. Fuel Pressure was dropping from 58-60 to 30-32 # by the time he was done wth the tuning for the day. He replaced the pump and installed a hotwire kit, but hasn't been back on the dyno since.
In theory, The more air, and the more exhaust an engine can move... The more power it will make. Limiting it in any way will limit your power.
That's why Forced induction cars make so much power. The force in massive amounts of air, and feed it fuel, and expels massive amounts of exhaust.
So take that for what it's worth.

I just did my ls6 and p/p throttle body...Def. pulls alot harder...I thought it was alot of hype I was reading as far as gains over the ls1, and didn't think I'd notice a difference. I was dead wrong..This is without h/c so I'm sure you'd be leaving alot of hp on the table

LS6 intake is definitely superior to the LS1 all across the board, even on a stock application you would be gaining a little something by switching over to one, and the LS6 only starts to shine more once you start modding heavier. However, you can just run the stock LS1 with your H/C, but just know you will definitely be leaving a little chunk of power behind. For the prices you can get the LS6 for it really is worth it to pick one up.

Considering you've already put the $ up for a Heads/Cam setup, save a few more $$$ and put an LS6 intake on it before getting it tuned. You'll be glad you did in the end.

If you happen to buy a new LS6 intake, be sure to retain the 8 rubber intake gaskets from the LS1 intake (before, and if you decide to sell the LS1 version).
I got a great deal on a new LS6 intake. When it arrived, I realized that the LS6 intake did not come with the 8 gaskets. Too late...I had already moved the LS1 intake. It cost 42 addtional dollars to acquire the gaskets.

Correct, All of Them share the same intake port seals... The FAST (78/90/92/102) / LS6 / & LS1 intakes!!!
And fwiw, I buy all of mine through O'Reily's or Advance Auto Parts. I know they are not too expensive tho. I have a business account through them and I wanna say they are about $25 my cost.

^^^ Theres guys making 800+ rwhp with LS6 Intakes. But they are Boosted.
NA engines would need the larger intake to make power.
With FI, It doesn't hurt it as much b/c the FI setup will force the air into the engine. Not relying on Atmospheric Pressure to do it's job.
Positive Pressure is where it's at man.
So to answer your question, Yes! There is a substantial gain even with Forced Induction setups!
