I have a 1970 camaro that I am installing a carbed 5.3 in. I have the engine as low in hole as possible, and have zero clearance between the carb and hood. I am running the edelbrok intake and msd box that comes in there conversion kit. I was really wanting to run the flat hood. Is anyone out there with a second gen camaro made this happen? Also if I have to run a cowl hood what air cleaner will fit with only two inches clearance?

Your going to need a cowl hood....id get a 3 inch to play it safe. I used the shortest k&n filter with drop base and xstream lid and have 3/4 of space. This was the lowest set up possible i could come up with. i have pic of it posted in my gallery.

if you're worried about hood clearance then run the EFI setup

Thanks gary...I found my used on the corvette-forum. I am sure if you do some google searches you will find something, if not you can make the 2 inch work. Run the rpm instead of the vic jr and use the same air cleaner set up as me and it should just make it.
