Default 243 valve job

i have a ls1 im about to start on, i just bought some 342 heads off a tbss ls2, im wanting to get them ported polished and shaved and also put bigger valves in them. any number out there on how big of valve i can put in there or should i just explain to the machine shop what im looking for? im new to all this so take it easy on me Thanks

The stock seats are 2.02" in diameter, so thats the largest you would go with stock seats. Replace the seats, though, and you can go much larger.

If you don't mind me asking, why are looking at putting in larger valves? One of the biggest perks to the 243's is they have huge power potential using stock castings.

There is only so much power you can make with a 2.00" valve. Look at the heads on some of these higher power engines, like the 500whp 346ci engines. They are not using the stock valves.

i just figured it would add a little extra power and they have over 100k miles on the heads i got. im just wanting to refresh the heads before i put them on so i dont have to mess with them later down the road

Intakes are hollow and only the exhaust are sodium filled to disburse heat.

They are great because they are lightweight but they are still stock 2.0/1.55 size so your call......

Factory valve have it limit to let air into the chamber you need bigger valve to let more air go into chamber with NA motors unless you have a FI motor that you going to push the air.
