Dyno Guesses & Bench Racing Forum - 02 Viper vs 02 WS6

A guy at a class I go to has a 02 RT 10 Viper. Bone stock down to the window tint. My T/A has a MS4, PRC 215s, FAST 102, full exhaust, 410s. He claims the viper is rated 500hp but the highest rating I've found was 450. What would the Viper run like compared to the T/A in a straight line. I know in the twisties I'm screwed. Thanks

Line em up and find out. Could be a very close race. Vipers are no joke with a proper driver though

im pretty sure 02s were 500hp, but keep in mind that is motor HP, it is also lighter, think of it as racing a 500HP vette cause thats about what its ganna be like.

I'm curious what happens! What would it take for a fbody to take down the likes of a Viper anyway?

If he cant drive he will probably die lol. Race him! The weight isnt much difference. I imagine 300 lbs

I think you got this...i imagine youre well over 430rwhp and thats already near his crank power and the difference in weight is only +/-100lbs

450 was the highest rating I could find for an 02 and a 12.4 quarter time but they have IRS. Its an old guy that had it I was just curious as to whether I could take it. I thought he'd be quite a bit lighter though. The hood on those things are half as long as my entire car and the engine looked like a diesel. Underneath was all plated up. My car made 452 in 98 degrees before my duals. I would imagine those vipers being geared high. On the track I'm sure I could take it but when it came to a roll I figured it would be close. I would love to see them side by side with equal drivers but I'm sure I'll never get to race it.

the 02 was definitely 450hp the 03 debuted with a new body style and 50 more ponies. i think it may be a drivers race with maybe a slight edge to your car. reason being is the viper is max 200lbs lighter with a little less hp than you and they also come with 3.08 gears so you will have the gearing advantage.

FYI the 93 Fbodies actually had viper gear ratios. the new ratios arent much different...

What kind of power does your car make? They usually make around 400 rwhp stock, so you should have him in the power department, although his curve will probably be pretty good. Should be an interesting race and could go either way.
