I got an ebay head unit which is chinese with 7"touch screen and being covered by double d with the bezel. I've mocked the HU but it is interfering with the AC ducting and still sticking out more than an inch (total depth of unit is around 7.5"). What's the regular depth of more hi end HU like Poineer and Kenwood and what exactly needs to be done in terms of clearancing for the head unit to fit.

Did you cut the palstic tab that sticks up and remove the metal bracket that sits behind the factory radio.

Welcome to the board, no haven't done any cutting yet. I'm thinking that even after taking that piece out the radio will contact the AC duct before it sit flush. Anyway the bezel has not arrived yet, so we'll see how it goes by then.

For ALMOST ALL aftermarket headunits, the metal bracket in the back needs to be cut off. I believe with the double din units you also have to shave a little towards the top opening, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

On my Formula, that metal tab at the back had a plastic covering. I cut off the plastic part of it and bent the metal part down out of the way.
