got a few grand and i'm thinking DOD Delete by livernois with 1C cam, Kooks LT 1 7/8 Headers, Port Intake/TB, Nitrous Kit 100-125 shot we will let the tune tell us were to stop , And Chrome Camaro 20" wheels. I got about 7 grand can get more if i have to or leave some mods for later. I'm very excited about the local 1/4 mile track opening back up by my house and i don't want to be getting showed up by any stock cars so i figure this should get me through the first racing season .....

opinions ????

That's a serious first round of mods. You're going to have a very fun car when you finish those up

I would go with a Camaro diff and a 2800 stall as well. It will make the car significantly faster and more fun to drive.

Stall converter will have almost as much gain as your dod/cam swap and will benefit it all the more and allow for a larger cam. The gxp/camaro diff with some better gears would be great too! Save the money on the rims and the ported intake. The throttke body porting would be ok, but after doing a lot of reading unless you have a deep breathing motor, the ported stock manifold may hurt more than help.

Kooks 1 7/8 + x pipe
CAI (if you dont already)
Dod delete and cam
Stall
Tune
Tires

Biggest beneficial mods you can do with that 7k

Or you can skip all those steps and do just 1
Supercharger

Supercharger? The car overall will have more power, yes -- but you can't take advantage of it over 3K RPM w/o wider and stickier tires, bushings, ect. You will probably need to stay away from the extra gearing if you go for a supercharger.

I would go for a nitrous kit and wider aftermarket tires if you want a minimal investment with great returns. The nitrous kit can be tuned easily and that is a big advantage.

If you really want the supercharger I am selling mine and it is on ebay right now. The price is a pretty good deal if you are looking for a chrome TVS2300. Can be made to fit on a GT.

very good ideas i'm gonna skip the kit (wife said no since my race/street camaro took a $14,000 hit due to a nitrous misque) and shoot for the gears/stall . I def want the DOD delete i have already had MAJOR warrenty work with the DOD lifts/cam/bearings/so on and it gave a tick for a few seconds the other day so its coming back around. And i know the camaro wheels don't hel any but they sure look good :) ok i'll start by ordering the headers/DOD delete/underdrive pully when i get home next week and see were that puts the funds. then i'll advance on the next move

Thanks for the input there not big deal here 3.70s is what i want but i drive the insterstate a lot mid mississippi to west louisiana/east texas so i havent ruled out 3.45s opinions please ......

I wouldnt get such short gears. The 3.42 (or whatever 3.xx) gears are for the g8. With the stall and plenty of power traction will be limited. Adding even shorter gears to an already limited traction car isnt always a good thing. Plus the 3.42 will make for better highway manners

well when i race its with a sticky tire so no traction issues there but yes on the day to day there is gonna be that factor and i do drive it on the interstate a lot so i think i have talked myself out of the 3.70s however i might go a different route and do a shortblock, cam, and stall since so i won't have to go that deep in it again i gotta get some prices first though.

The stall cam dod delete and headers with a dyno tune will make your car much more fun! Save the bottom end for last!

The stall cam dod delete and headers with a dyno tune will make your car much more fun! Save the bottom end for last!

the bad thing about that is the whole top end of the motor comes off in the DOD delete and goes back on so why not swap the short block while its right there and the stall is then right there so might as well do it also. still on the fence i gotta get some real prices monday. still all info is deeply considered so feel free to speak

A set of nice heads in lieu of the shortblock may be a sweet option. I know when my time.comes im going with those new prc 250cc ls3 heads. Smaller runner, better ptv clearance, ported, more compression, more cam selections. For $2200 seems like a great deal!

I'd skip the 20" wheels and get more go fast stuff myself.

Could not agree more. I'd also suggest a Camaro diff...

EDIT: Go with the Stage 1, not the stage 1c

With the stall fuck stage 1 entirely. Run any cam u want, or better yet have pat g spec u a cam. He also has a g8 with a yank ss3200 so he will know exactly what to do ;)

I know its not the strongest cam out there but i'm getting the 1C for the street manners and smooth idle. I have a fast reputation so if i show up to the local spots with a loping cam i can promise i won't get to race and i love to race so. i have to be a littel more stealth about it. So that cam is for sure. And make no mistake Pat G is the man i have already talked to him about tuning my car.

You could still have a very stealthy cam, and street friendly but more power...

well i got my quote from land speed Development on the top end. I think this is going to be plent of power i'm doing the mini stroker next and that will put me around 470-480 rwhp on motor then i'll do a procharger with the helical gear set and that will put me over 600 and i'll be done. time then to move on to the old ladys C6 GS :)

My fault. But he is right do a better camshaft because you'll have a higher stall.

I'm doing the 1C for the manners not so much the power it will make more power than i want in the end so i'm def gonna do the 1C came. Talked with Land speed and we going to do stage2 port and so on so thats fixing to be underway, still on the fence about a underdrive or just a after market balancer. def going to do the Kooks 1 7/8 longtubes. My grand father took a turn for the worst so i'll probably stop there in case i need the money going to see him or whatever may pop up. He has been batteling cancer for 14 months now and the other day he feel and broke his hip and then we found out he has a infection and a anurisum or how ever its spelled so not looking good. i want to keep a few grand on me incase i need to help him in anyway or just to go see him ever chance i get he is 3 hrs away. thanks for all the comments and opinions in helping me map this out.

Sounds like you have a fun car planned. I know LS1 and LS3 are different but, I have spec'd a very stout short block for about 4k. Stock crank, h-beams, forged pistons, head work, cam, and a few other necessities. It won't be bullet proof but should be able to handle anything I'm going to throw at it, will be a fairly well mannered street engine, should be fairly receptive to a small N2O hit as well. Good luck with the car, looking forward to seeing the results of this.

the 13.2 pass had some wheel spin on the 1-2 shift also :( if yours isn't tuned don't let any time you run get you down a dyno tune on these cars help a TON i think a 13.7 or 13.8 was my best stock but i didn't run it but like 4 times stock
