Turbo sizing for Jeep Wrangler 6.0L 5 speed??
Just putting this thought out here.
I currently have a 89 Jeep Wrangler with a crate 383 SBC 425 hp. It has a nv4500 5 speed and a 231 with a 4:1 kit. Axles are going to be 1 tons with 4:56's, probably going to run 38's or 40's.
Working on swapping in a 01 6.0L with a 228R on 114lsa cam. Already have some C6 mani's and thinking of doing a simple TT setup.
Since its a wheeling rig, and will see some street time as well, im not looking for any dyno numbers or high HP. Looking for low end torque (yeah i know upping the compression is the way to go rather than turbos).
I was thinking of doing a pair of 57mm T3's( .63's) with internal WG's for quick spooling turbos, run it no IC and low boost, thinking 4-6 psi.
Would this be a decent turbo, too small or too big? Not going to rev to the moon at all
It's just a cool WOW factor to have a TT lsx Jeep, and when your ripping through a mud hole, or sand dune, you can open it up and get some tire speed.
Any thoughs? bad idea?
Also though about a SC, ala whipple, gt500 eaton etc, but the simplest seems to be a cheap internal gated small twin turbos.
let hear it guys...

I'm willing to bet that twin 57's would be great for some low end grunt. You could probably get those to light up pretty quick on a 6.0 with 40" tires. As you said, only running 6psi would be good too.

so, worked a bit on some turbo sizing with the maps and air flow data that fordecinductions has on their site...
for running TT's i spec'ed out a TO4E 54 Trim. This was spec'd for 6-9psi and was in the 72-75% part of the maps. the physical compressor side is about a 51mm inducer and 68mm exducer. as far as Ar housings for exhaust, I'm looking at .63's right now.
A mitsu TD06H-20g is close to these specs as well, but it seems the t04E covers and trim help make the map a bit more wider at these boost levels it seems.
I saved some screen shots but left them on my other computer.
with a stick i should be able to get them spooling decent when needed in the higher rpm..
thoughts?
