Default would you run a chipped main bearing?

so here's the scoop, I have slowly been putting my motor back together as i can afford the pieces. I started to put my rear cover on only to realize that i installed the rear crankshaft main cap facing the wrong way. So i gently wiggled the cap off the crank, but when flipping it around i noticed that the bearing has a small chip taken out of it just beside the locating tang. I couldnt find the piece on the crank, so im not really sure where it went. I dont know if it got chipped when i installed it the first time or when i removed the cap to flip it.

So the question is, should i spend the 100$ and buy another set of clevite bearings only to replace the rear one, or just run it how it is with the small chip in the bearing?

I can post up pics if anyone is interested in seeing.

post up some pics... I would not run that bearing, i would replace it. it would suck to get your motor all back together just to spin a main bearing. I would also check the motor as thoroughly as possible for that chipped little piece of bearing. sux man been there

Are you crazy if you already have it out and see if it's chipped replace it or you will regret it by a different brand they are all the same

If you call Texas speed they should be able to get you a single bearing rather than an entire set.

Hell no man, tear that engine all the way back down to bare block and clean it; flush it out.

Yea I would def get a new bearing...depending on what series bearing it is you should be able to get just a single bearing to match your other ones....also I would try to find that piece of bearing too bc it could wipe out another bearing or worse...

Absolutely not, depending on the looks and feel of the crank journal I would replace the bearing without a doubt. If the crank has any grooves or nicks I would remove the crank and head to the machine shop.

Would you take a poop then not wipe? It will suck, but as stated above, I'd tear it back apart and try to find that piece that is MIA or at least clean everything very well. $100 could cost you thousands, so could a small chip of bearing.

So after checking around for a while its almost impossible to get a single bearing. On a good note though i realized that i am a DUMBASS and the bearing wasn't chipped at all but is how it comes new. I pulled the other bearing outs to see that they all look like that right near the locating tangs.
I installed my crank over 4 months ago and forgot what the bearings originally looked like apparently lol

Sorry for the horrible pics, snapped them with my outdated phone
