Any Problems with LS6 Valves & Aftermarket Cams I'll be having a Comp 224 .581 cam installed in my 99 LS1 block. I'm upgrading the springs to the Comp 921's - a dual spring rated good to .650 lift on 02 LS6 heads. I have heard stories of the two piece LS6 valves breaking at the weld and causing major problems...with the fast ramp rates and higher lift and increased spring seat pressure am I headed for trouble? What do you think of the Manley 1 piece valves?

I don't want to bash anything but I can only state my experience. I realize that all products must contain a certain amount of defective pieces but one thing to consider in choosing your valves:
If you ever run into a stiuation where a valve hits a piston, 2 piece welded valve can break at the weld. Using REV, MANLEY, FEREA,...that are one peice steel valves will simply bend and not break off. I have a beautiful forged motor due to a LS6 hollow stem valve breaking off and destroying an LS6 block and one head.
It isn't just a situation of some mistake of cam install. You can have a broken valvespring, over rev, of other situation that cause P/V contact but no matter how light the touch, a welded valve is cracked. Be guided accordingly. Get aftermarkets and get 'em bigger. I got 2.02's and 1.6's and they fit the stock seats after opening the pockets.
