Eliminate the need for a dyno tune?

Well....no. You need to spend a bunch of time tuning it just like you would anything. Doesn't need to be on a dyno, but it needs to be dialed in.

^What he said. The only fuel injection systems that really dont need to be touched are the Fast EZ-EFI/MSD Atomic Equivalents, entry level, good up to about 500-600 N/A HP and you just have to tell it a few parameters (such as cam specs, engine size, etc) other wise the Holley, Fast XFI and others need to be at least setup and dialed in

Any of them are fairly complicated. You have to have some basic electrical knowledge just to install them. There are "system setup" parameters that will need to be input. There will be mechanical adjustments that need to be made. None of them as "easy". Even the easy ones, aren't exactly easy.

It's like anything else you build. You need to have basic knowledge of the system you're using, and what you're doing. You'll need to be able to troubleshoot any problems that may arise.

Even if you put a carb and distributor in it, you're still faced with dialing in the carb and timing.

This is the performance world. There is no free lunch. None of it is "easy".

I think ur missing my point,I can set up up with basic info,fuel ratio ,injector size downloads,my question is will it self learn after the basic setup info and how and how deep does it go to set up?

IMO a stock pcm would be your best bet.

It uses a wideband sensor, but you still need to setup various tables so it can correctly calculate air/fuel regardless.

I will Highly disagree.....

The Holley stuff is really simple to setup...
they even include a base setup for an LSx engine in the install program
its close enough that you can just change for the few items you need to, and the car will start and run pretty dam good on the first try

Self learning for Fueling...but some basic knowledge and understanding helps...
there is a tuning guide in the help files that will help you to fine tune a few basic things...nothing super specific, but its gives some good insight on some things to do to solve small issues.

It is not a turn-key plug and play everything is perfect system... you will need to know some basic tuning knowledge and you will need some basic wiring understanding..

and can you eliminate a dyno.....not if you want the maximum power possible...
but you can do without a dyno and still get some good performance...
you can also just go to your local track and make changes and test for max performance...when you stop gaining MPH in the 1/4... you've gotten all its going to get...then you just need to work on traction and teh rest of the human variables..

We have been seriously looking at the Holley Dominator system for our turbo'd Outlaw car. There have been some very good results from testing and the self learn feature seems to work very well after some parameters are set as a reference.

Have any of you sponsors that replied in this thread other than ed ever used the Holley software or even looked at it? The fueling table is self learning. You tell it your basic hardware inputs(injector flow rates at what fuel pressure etc. etc. etc. etc.) the AFR you want commanded and it will adjust the fueling to meet that AFR.

If what I'm saying is unclear this video sums it up nicely....http://www.holley.com/Index.asp?division=Holleyefi

Go to that link bottom of the page video is in the left hand corner.

Sum up the video they take 50% fuel out of the entire fueling table. They make a full dyno WOT throttle pull and it brings the entire fueling back in line to almost what it was before the 50% was removed in that one dyno pull.

I can tell you without a doubt... it works exactly like that...
your base guess at fueling can be way off...ad it will auto correct within an instant and push the numbers around it to get them close as well...

a perfect example...
I went out a few nights ago...and sprayed a 100 shot on the street...
Dry Shot...had to guess at the extra fuel needed...

Closed loop at WOT....Holley Compensated awesome...
I missed the guess by about 5%
Holley Compensated within 0.1 AFR the entire pull...

in this picture
Yellow = RPM
Green = AFR Commanded
Red = Actual AFR
Grey = Closed loop Compensation amount
Purple = MPH

as you can see... the holley does a Dam good Job..

also, you can see an initial "Rich Hit"...
happens at the beginning of spraying at 67 seconds into the log, and then when the trans shifts at 70.5 seconds into the log...
the Holley Software actually has a delay time that you can set so that you can "delay the fuel hit" on a dry shot...I'll be adding about 40ms delay to the Fuel hit to remove that initial Rich spike...

you can also see a little spike in the MPH where I had some tire spin at gear change....
I run a 3.50 Rear Gear Detroit Locker, I did the pull in 3rd gear(1.57), and it shifted into 4th(1.18)
5th is my 1:1 and 6th is my overdrive 0.75

Just on Motor 60-100 was 3.8 seconds
with a 100 shot, its 3.3 seconds
second stage is a currently a 150 progressive.,..and I get tire spin at 90mph...
so I cant tell you any times on that yet..LOL
plan is to spray a 250 for on the street...and spray a 500 at the track

I'm sure the Holley will have no issues keeping up.
