Default Quiet Muffler Help

Has anyone heard of a muffler with a 4" inlet and outlet that isn't loud as hell. I have a dual 3" inlet to single 4" outlet magnaflow muffler and it is too loud for my taste.

I found an MBRP "Quiet" muffler that is 4" inlet/outlet but I know they make diesel exhaust. Would a diesel muffler be different than a gas muffler? And would it quiet my exhaust down from a magnaflow? Thanks

Your dual 3" inlet / single 4" outlet Magnaflow doesn't have a lot of room for sound absorbing packing, that's why it's loud.

Do you have room to add another muffler after your current Magnaflow? Would a 7" dia Magnaflow with a 14", 20", 24" or 30" case length fit?

I'd do a 4 inch cutout then neck down an inch into a full case 3 inch muffler like a Magnaflow. Mine is quiet as hell.

I would rather not have two mufflers on the truck. But maybe I might have to do that. Even if I do a single 3" inlet and 4" outlet, won't that quiet it down some?

Just so I fully understand, you have both the left & right 3" exhaust pipes going into the one, dual 3" inlet/4" outlet muffler; correct?

IMO, don't reduce the outlet size down to a single 3", that'll reduce flow/power.
I'd just replace the muffler with a dual 3" inlet/4" outlet Y-merger. Then run the longest 7" diameter 4" in/out round Magnaflow muffler you can fit .

Yes correct. Just like: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MPE-12198/

Except 3" inlets, and 4" outlet

IMO, if you don't want to add another muffler then go with my suggestion above , and use either a Magnaflow #12772 (7" dia 24" case L) or if room permits a #12773 (7"dia. 30" case L)

You think it will quiet it down because of the length?

Yes, the length for the fact it has more packing inside.
It'll still have a nice Deep rumble.
BTW, I forgot to ask is your exhaust just dumped, or ran out to the side or back?

The 4" outlet is dumped after the rear end. I found a 37" walker muffler that is 7" diameter, and 4" in/out. And a 40" walker with a 10" diameter.

FYI, if you have the exhaust exit shooting more out to the side than straight down it'll at least cut-down on any drone inside the cab..
