Whats the ideal shifter height for a stick shift car?
Kind of a different question. But im going to get a longer stick made for the shifter on my t56. Right now with the mgw shifter the top of the shifter is about even with the seat so though not terrible it is kind of awkward reaching down so far and since i have a bench seat i have to keep the console up to shift which i dont care since i want to convert to buckets and nice console anyways. So what distance is ideal for aggressive driving?
Heres the current position for reference.

the best is whatever feels comfortable to you....but keep in mind the longer the shifter the more awkward and slower shifts you are going to have....It will be a trade off between comfort and speed....

I ordered the offset for mine (66 Nova) to position it exactly that way - it does not look like the MGW has the adjustability my Red Roberts (McLeod) shifter does. My shift lever is ~8" long (shortest he had) and I might have it shortened just a little.
