I know it deffinatly sounds worth it, but does anyone know why the LS1 edit is so expensive, i can't see spending $550 for a couple hours worth of work.

hay man, build me an ls1 edit interface cable, and write the software, if its as good as the other guys, i'll give you $99 a copy. preferably with maps for every year ls1 (98-02) at least.
Crazy? Probably in 2-3 years thats gonna be reality. werd.

Look around - you either write your own, pay someone to tune it, or buy the tool do DIY...
Don't dismiss the LS1 because you can't edit the PCM - what leads you to think you NEED to edit it?
wait until hp tuners is out....
you will be able to find locals who will take, $50 or so, to mess with your computer.
I plan on helping locals for cheap, once i get it. (unless i can get another tuner first ;))

I dont have to edit it...but i live in CT and supposedly the OBD-II test they run will see the codes that i throw when i change my headers and y-pipe. I dont know the first thing about editing codes and what not.
