Default C5 Corvette making AFTER WOT pull! Video & pics inside

Okay guys I have a 98' VRX5 cam only with all the necessary valve train lupgrades. TEA Gold Dual Valve springs and new valve guides, retainers, and seals.

So I went to the dyno yesterday to get my car tuned for the cam and nitrous. Every time he would get all the way through the pull and let off at redline it would puff a huge cloud of white smoke. He said valve seals and I told him I just replaced them and then he said the only other thing is the rings. What do you guys think? The car has 99K on the clock. I have a few pictures of the plugs I just pulled out and #2 and #8 and had a wet brown milky stuff on them. I also have a dyno video. Watch about half way through and you will see the smoke. Thanks

No. The heads were not touched in the process of the cam swap.

it does look like you got some water in there some how. drain the oil and see what comes out near the end. also check your radiator fluid for contamination.

It does look like something is contaminating the oil.

I think you know it, you just don't want to admit it just yet. I would be doing the same.

I would drain the oil too, like TA7935 said. Try to use an open pan so you can see what comes out.

The muddy colored oil on the plug and his fingers.

When coolant mixes with the oil, it comes out looking milky/muddy.

Hopefully u don't have a busted head gasket. Has the car over heated at all? Let the car sit for a good hour and then drain the oil. If you get water/coolant coming out then you mostlikly will have a busted head. Don't listen to me just yet. Do a leak down test aswell to confirm. White smoke means coolant.

Plus if the smoke was blue it would be oil and would mostlikly be piston rings. If it were valve seals it would do it every morning at first start up after the engine has been sitting for a while, also I would suggest to find another tuner.. If he doesn't know white smoke is coolant then he really shouldn't be working on cars.

Stock PCV system with a CCA catch can.

I'm going to do a compression test tonight and then drain the oil. Wish me luck.

Also whats weird is that the muddy water/oil was only on the threads of the plugs and not actuall only he tip.

Probably burning off. There is a sniffer you can get to detect exhaust in the coolant, might want to check into that.

Was that one plug or all plugs? Hard to believe a head gasket would affect all plugs. If its all, I would check the PCV system. Also, pull the intake tract and look though the open throttle body for contamination inside the intake. Might give some information if the PCV system is the culprit.

Do you do a lot of short trips in cold weather?

Thanks for all the replies. I removed the TB and didn't find anything unusual. No oil on the TB. Their is some oil that has collected in the catch can so it is doing its purpose.

The cylinders it was on was #2 & 8. And like I said it was only on the thread part of the plug not the tip.

i agree your tuner is an idiot, white is definately coolant, do a leakdown test and check for air/bubbles in the cooling system.

Could the "muddy water" be high temp copper anti-seize?

i would still do a leakdown test. and just because compression is good doesnt mean oil ring is good.
