Default 1995 Camaro SS for $14,500 ???????????

A while ago I traded my 95 Z28 in to a dealership in New Hampshire, for about $8,800. Since then I've been looking at AutoTrader to see what it ends up selling for, just out of curiousity. WELL today I found it. I can't believe how ridiculous this post is - try and count all the things that are wrong with this posting - start with the asking price $14,500

I could be wrong, but I thought they didnt bring the SS back until 1996?
Aftermarket Wing and Hood?
Way too much $ for a 95

I am sure there are more questionable items.

95 SS? Must be rare, therefore the high price.

So that's your old car - and it's now an SS?

That's funny.

And a little high on the price.

i can't see in the pic good but did you
Put SS logos in it, if so that's straight perpatrating.
What was wrong with Z28? Why turn it
into something it isn't. I have no problem with any
of the other mods but faking logos is a Rice move.

Alot of people don't
know how to tell or when the SS came back out.
I just feel bad for the sucker who might pay a premium
for something he isn't gettting.

If I just am seeing this wrong I apologize.

yes sadly it was me that put the SS badges on that car, as well as the centercaps. I was young and foolish back then. I'm proud to own a Z28 now.... My point was that this guy selling the car now is advertising it as an SS even thought there is no such 1995 model. Ballsy

I dont see anything wrong with puting SS badges on the car. WGAF if it looks better and makes you feel good then do it.
Look how many guys put the WS6 badge on their TA. Hell if you buy the hood and have the ram air kit on the car and change the wheels it looks exactly like a WS6, might as well do the badges as well.
I have Z06 rims on my car, not because I want to be a Z06, but because I like the look better. Same could go for those who swap out badges.
BTW, my camaro says Z28

What that is doing is creating a clone. Better call
it that should you sell it. Unless your talking some
super-expensive unattainable to the average guy car
like a COPO clones are gay. Why not keep it for what it
is-are you jealous of the other one. I'm not saying getting
a SS hood on a Z28 is wrong-that's a cosmetic upgrade,
but letters on the fenders don't add to the look-its faking,
driving a lie. Why would you change Z28. That is a legend.
It screams Camaro, performance, American muscle, etc...
Changing it does that an injustice. SS these
days is associated with 3.8L monte carlos and other "supersport"
cars like that. Have pride in what you have.

I looked at a 97 "SS" a few years ago. It was a sweet ride.
Then I noticed the flat spoiler. Looked further and walked away.
If it had Z28 logos on it I may have been interested.
I'm not a perpatrator. One of my prized possesions sure as
hell won't be either.

Clones with badges are for posers. Wing and hood is fine, but rebadging is a nono.

Rebadging may be a no-no...but what about DE-badging? Is there anything wrong with taking badges off to give it a sleeper look? Like shave off my Z28 badges and put on a single exit exhaust so it appears to be a V6? I don't think I'd do that, but most of the people putting down rebadging seem to be SS owners..lol.

rebadging long before I got my current camaro.
Its a Rice move

Default rebadging controversy ss vs. z28

ok so rebadging is a no-no, I agree with that. All Z28 owners should be proud that they didn't get roped into spending and extra $8 -10K for a catback, hood, spoiler and SS emblems. I had the opportunity to buy an SS and decided I'd rather do the mods myself & save $6,000 in my case. I made the car look like I wanted it to look and am doing the performance mods I want, not what someone else picked and what tons of other people have. I made all my own choices, did my research and picked the products I wanted and am proud of the result. Isnt that what modding cars is all about? Some of the SS guys need to get down off your SS horse for a second.

ok I'm done with my tirade.

I bought a 02 Z28 brand new for $28,000. 11 months later, I bought a 02 SS brand new for 32,700. That extra $10 grand you are talking about is a bit of a stretch. To me, it was much easier to buy my SS with the Dual-Dual, hood, spoiler, wheels, lid and all the other little things that came from SLP instead of doing all of it myself. I liked the pewter Z, but silver is my color and couldn't pass up the SS. GM is degrading the SS namesake with the Monte Carlo and the Silverado, but I am proud to have my Camaro be an SS and would not have it any other way. I have never seen one in person, but if I saw a Z28 with the SS hood and wing and it still said Z28, i would think that was odd. But people do what they want and it is their car. Don't rebadge and do what you want no matter what others think. Be proud that you drive a Camaro and not some jap-crap.

The base SS package is a 4 grand option that I could
get back in resale. How much did your conversion
cost? Think you'll get most of it back in value, if
so your kidding yourself, mods dont hold much value.

It you think paying for it is a waste how about
the cost of ttops or leather. How about chrome
wheels at a grand. How much more is a vert?
Its all in your priorities.

Sams post is just senseless. Slp doesn't rebadge
they finish off the car that was determined to become
an SS from prebuild. Its not that they just pointed to
a couple finished Z28's and said "we'll do those ones"
They make them authentic.

If you rebadge your car would you list it as a SS in your
sig?
