Default Question about a cam.

I am lookin to get a cam for my car. It's a 00 Formula WS6 6 speed with long tubes and cats. Stock cat back. I am lookin for a stock like idle, but a big power gain. Has anyone use this cam from vengence racing? VRX1 Camshaft-220/220 .581/.581 114 LSA I'd like to know what yall think.

That would be very tame but you won't see a big power gain that cam looks pretty small. We are thinking of using a 228/230 .571/.573 112 LSA on my friends LQ4 and we are thinking that we might be able to go bigger.

Or simply ask Pat G.

The VRX1 will make moderate gains, but if you're looking at cams from Vengeance, the VRX2 would probably be a better choice. It would take a trained ear to tell the difference between the two, and power will be up around 10-12rwhp.

Stock like idle, but no big power gain, not with a small cam. You'll have to compromise on the idle for more power with a cam only swap.
A TSP 228/228 114lsa would have a decent idle and a good DD power band, and power gain. If you're willing to go with a higher lift cam then a custom TSP 227(.614")/227(.614") 114lsa cam with LSL lobes will make more power than the 228(.588")/228(.588") 114lsa with XER lobes, if either one of those is to big for your needs then a 226(.585")/226(.585") 114lsa w/XER lobes might work better for you.

If you do decide to pursue a more stock like cam, chances are you're trying to keep noise down in general, so I'd suggest eps/lsl/lxl lobes. At least for a sleeper type car.

Oh, and get rid of the stock catback. It's the most restrictive part of the stock exhaust. I actually change my mind about cam reccomendations now, get one of the CheaTR cams.
