Question Advice on compression in high elevation..

First off i am at 5400 ft elevation. I am building a forged 370, with ported 317 heads w prc .650 springs, with a D1 Procharger (pushing it hard). I will be getting a custom cam for the crappy air, running a ported stock tbody and ls6 intake. I will be running 91 octane (best around here on pump) with methenol injection. Also for a 95% street car what peak rpm should i have them spec the cam fo rand what compression should i have? i was thinking 6500 rpm(?) ...or 7000? 10.1 compression?. BTW its a 6M 2002 Trans AM. i am hoping to build 700-750 reliable rwh. thanks alot!

I am in Denver and even I would not run a boosted 10:1 engine on only 91 octane. However, If it were an E85 vehicle, I would feel confident.

You will be able to run 10:1, its all in the tune.....

I have to ask though, what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Usually "pushing it hard" and "pump gas" are mutually exclusive...

You need methanol injection if you're going to lean on it with pump gas, and a GOOD tuner....

Who is doing the work on the car?

I'm up in cheyenne, if you need any help let me know.

Thanks greg. I will be doing the install myself and getting a built 370 from an awesome vendor here. I am unsure who will be doing the tuning....any references?

Oops, I missed the meth injection part...

For a tuner, you can give Servion a try. He is in the Springs at Revolutions and has a very good reputation for tuning cars in Colorado. Or, you can try Harvey at The Boost Creep. He also has a very good reputation. He is in longmont.

I would take advantage of all the compression I could get-making boost is gonna be the hard part.

Why is making boost the hard part? You can spool a 101mm turbo up here with 346 cubes, its all in the setup. He should set goals, and spec a compression and boost number, and total setup to attain them.
