Pontiac G8 2008-2010 - New Tires On The G8

After 30,000 miles the Eagle GT's I installed when I first got the car were down to the wear bars, so it was time for new tires. I really liked the Eagle GT's but I thought they wore out pretty quick, so I looked at other tires. I had my eye on the new Kumho Ecsta 4x and the new Dunlop Fierce Instinct tires but I couldn't find any reviews on them.

I found a local tire shop that sold them both so I went to look at them, along with the Continental DWS too. After talking with the salesman he suggested the Bridgestone Potenza RE970AS since they were the #1 choice at Tire Rack. I told him I didn't want to pay over $200 each for tires, so he said he would do them for $195 each which was a great price on them.

I had them installed on my car and they are really nice tires. They are quiet and handle well, plus they are smooth at highway speeds with no vibration what so ever. I haven't pushed them hard in the corners since it's been cold lately, but they do seem to grip better then the Eagle GT's. I haven't had a chance to try them in the snow yet, but they should do as well or better than the Eagle GT's which I was very happy with.

The Bridgestones have a 40K mile treadwear warranty unlike the Eagle GT's that don't come with a warranty, so hopefully they will outlast the Eagle GT's. When it snows I'll post some feedback on how they do, along with wet/dry traction ability when it warms up here.

How do treadware warranties work anyways?

If a tire has a 40,000 mile warranty and it reaches the wear bars at 30,000 miles, you get 25% of the cost of the tire applied to the cost of a new tire since it only lasted 75% of what it was supposed to.

LOL no that pic was with the stock Potenza summer tires that were useless in the snow, which is why I bought the Eagle GT's when I first got the car. We got a little snow tonite so I'll try to test out the new Bridgestone RE970 all season tires in the morning.

You should make out good then lol. I didn't get a chance to try the new tires in the snow because there wasn't much on the roads. Maybe another day though.
