Ok it says my sbc 350 is from 87-95 when i run the vin on the block. This would be considered a 2nd gen 350 right? What were the differences in the 1st gen and 2nd? Just wondering because when you look up parts on summit there are lots more parts for the 1st gen than the 2nd. Is mine 1st or 2nd?

The biggest change is the rear main seal is one piece instead of 2, they are hydraulic roller and the heads are different.

GenII sbc's are 92-97 LT1's and 4's the have reverse cooling... the 1 and 2 piece rear mains were just sub variants of the traditional gen I.

the rear main seal is the main difference, however, most 350's built from 87-95 were flat tappet cams. the blocks were cast for the lifter "spider" and the cam retainer plate, and some were actually drilled, but most still had flat tappet cams.
