http://www.autoblog.com/2012/01/31/dodge-offers-up-first-teaser-for-the-2013-viper/

Early last year, Chrysler announced that it would be bringing the Viper back into production, with the brand's performance flagship once again taking its place at the front of the SRT lineup. The next generation Viper won't be unveiled until April at the New York Auto Show, and it looks like Dodge will be doing its best to tease us mercilessly until then with vague sketches of the car. The first has just been posted on the official SRT Facebook page, providing the very first look at the front end of the 2013 Viper. From the silhouette it's hard to really tell what the design will look like, but the overall shape and the hood scoop distinctly remind us of the Viper GTS coupe built from 1996 to 2002.

So, what do we know about the 2013 Viper as of right now? For starters, traction control will be used for the first time in the model's history as mandated by federal law. The powertrain is still unconfirmed, although there are rumors that the V10 could get a bump in displacement to an incredible 8.7 liters.

All of these rumors will be laid to rest come April, but until then we'll just have to settle for the teasers that SRT gives us. We'll be sure to bring you more news on the 2013 Viper as soon as its released, and let us know what you're hoping to see from the new Viper in the Comments.

alright... I'll admit it. I'm pretty excited. The Viper GTS from 1996-2002 is still my favorite car of all time. Can't wait till April

Not my favorite car of all time, but definitely my favorite Viper of all time.

All I can say is thank-GOD for Ralph Giles. Without a CEO as a car guy, the Viper probably would have died w/ the traction control mandate from Congress.

If that's really it I think it looks good. I wonder if it is a ground-up redesign or a body/interior/powertrain refresh of the last one? Or if it's really the finished product of the stillborn Viper platform Mercedes ended up using for the SLS?

Meh...:nono:

I know im gonna take some lip for this, but doesnt really do it for me. I liked the nose, which it looks like theyve changed, and the rear is long due for an overhaul and it looks the same give or take...

Just my $0.02

I don't think you'd take much lip - even current Viper owners are sharply divided on what they've seen of the Gen V Viper. Hell...there are quite a few people out there that think any Viper made after 2002 was complete garbage.

Doesn't matter in the end though...it's just nice they are still making them.

Nice.

Hope they bump the interior's design up a bit though.
Black for the dash would be nice too.

That is one of the funniest pics EVER! :D ;)

Hell...there are quite a few people out there that think any Viper made after 2002 was complete garbage.I'm not totally sure but I might still like the 1992-2002 cars best as well (though I'd never call a 2003+ Viper garbage either LOL)...I'd like to have a 2001/2002 RT/10 if I had the space to store it.

I know my dads next car purchase, he traded in his 05' because he got tired of the looks. This thing looks like a nice upgrade.

I dont know, maybe Im subconsciously jealous or something. But I just dont like the Viper, the external appearance and the engine mainly. IMO if they were gonna do a V10 why not make it a DOHC screamer? I think they should have kept it real with a new 426 Hemi, something much different from the new gen Hemis though; way more powerful and way stronger. The V10 is badass and can make hella power, but I just think the Viper should be a Detroit muscle supercar representing with a Hemi V8.

Anyway, 8.7L?! Godd@mn, I bet theyre going to take it up above 700hp! This things gonna be nuts for sure, and Chevys gonna have to step it up if they want the Vette to keep up. Hopefully they dont go below 5.5L with the new one....

Viper has a low hoodline, would have been difficult to get one under there.

The Viper V-10 has always been pretty "real". Only complaint is the sounds from most people.

Viper leans way more toward exotics than Detroit mucle car.

Yeah I guess I shouldnt have used sarcastic slang, sorry, of course its a real thing. My opinion sucks just as much as everyone else`s. I just think it wouldve fit more in line with the original rivalries if it wouldve been the C6 Vette of today vs a Viper with a new school 426 OHC Hemi or something similar.
