I am just wondering if anyone has done that before and what you thought of it. We run single inboard rotors on sprint cars all of the time and just curious if anyone has done that before on a Drag Car.

Are you talking about a yoke/driveshaft brake ??? I guess it's possible...but not sure if I'd ever do it....brake fade and only 1 rear rotor :(

No, what I was referring to was one stock brake not a yoke mounted brake on a drag racing set-up.

how else would you have it in board? Other then the pinion?
one side stock placement, and a spacer on the other side?
Ive never seen that?

This is what I am talking about. The reference to the Inboard was on the sprint cars we race. They are basically a spool rear end with one brake for both wheels.
Everyone is so fanatical about reducing weight on their cars I was just wondering if anyone had done that before. I am thinking with a spool on a drag car it would be no big deal and and easy 20-25 pounds of lost weight.

I believe that brakes on both rear wheels are required by every sanctioning body for open wheel cars. Full body cars are required brakes on all corners. My thoughts are that what you are asking for would be a great way to kill yourself! You don't have an endless shut-down area at a dragstrip. Your brakes needs to be in tune with the weight and ET of your car.

Weight over the drive tires isn't weight you should be concerned about losing.

UUuuuummmm.... hell no
Might be a quick way to snap an axle or put you into a spin.

I'm going to close this thread... the idea is not only unsafe, but absolutely not up to par with the rules of any sanctioning body.
