This may be a dumb question BUT how do you unlatch your hood once you pop it from inside the car? Im 98.99% sure im buying one, but i would just like to know how you guys do it. Also, is anyones hood PERFECTLY lined up everywhere that knows how big of a shim i should use between the hood and fenders and hood and headlights for when im fitting the hood? Thanks in advance.

I took the factory safety latch and bent the handle slightly so it doesnt hit the hood.

ok, i just wanted to make sure that you could still use the factory safety latch...but porksoda's response makes me wonder....thanks for your responses guys. Anyone have any specs on the shims needed for an even gap between the hood and fenders and headlights?

The stock latch is there to lock it down but there is no need to stick your hand in there to lift it up. Just grab it amd lift once you pop it from inside.

When I got mine, it came with a modified secondary latch which is slightly shorter than stock so it fits. It uses the stock main latch (the loop that releases when you pull the handle in the car). I haven't bothered to install the secondary yet (sheared off one of the bolts when taking the secondary off my old hood, so I'm a bolt short), so mine just lifts open once I pop it from inside the car.

Hope this helps

I got mine used. Took the stock latch handle and bent it down so it wouldn't hit. I also had to shim the passenger side hinge area up a bit with "fender washers" to bring the top of the hood up flush with the fender when closed. Fitment is damn near perfect.

ok, thanks guys..Thats what i was going for...i didnt know if you had to stick your hand under the hood and unlatch it or not, as long as the hood is latched until i pop it from the inside, that should be good enough. Thanks again!
