looking for stock size forged pistons&rods
#5
???? my stock rods and pistons have been fine they way they are now. just want to upgrade my pistons and rods and i don't wanna spend thousands on a block. i love my current setup and I'm working on a A4->M6 setup so i would like to beef up rods and pistons with the arp bolts and upgrade everything else.

UGH lol. i know i would need to do a good clean on the block. just didn't want to get a new block. cuz if i do i have to go all out!! and i would change out the whole setup. was trying to stay away from that. I spent 2 yrs building my engine getting the top of the line H/C setup with all the supporting mods at the time. $15k and 2 yrs later i love the setup. 420whp/440wtq unlocked is pretty good on a stock block

The pistons for example, need a specific amount of clearance based on the design of the piston and the intended use. Just swapping in some forged pistons in the bores that were honed in a mass production assembly line for stock cast pistons is probably one of the dumbest things you can do. It's maybe $200 to have the machine shop hone the bores to the size the pistons require and ensure the $600-800 you just invested on pistons and rings don't go to waste.
I hope you were at least planning on balancing the crank...

The answer to You're question about pistons and rods ,,,,,,,,Summit has 3 or 4 brands with cast hypereutectic or forged hypereutectic in stock , .010, .020 , .030 , .040 over for the iron blocks and stock , and whatever oversizes are normal for the aluminum blocks . And they have a few brands of forged rods also .
