Default Head gasket question.

I am wanting to confirm this is the correct head gasket for my 408.

I see some people talking about the gaskets being for a 4.030 bore and others not. Wasn't sure if all the gaskets were good for the larger bore.

nope you need the bigger gaskets the piston will always come out of the top of the block just a hair and therefore the gasket must match the block that kit is for a 3.89 bore on an ls1 you need the custom size for a 408 give scoggin dickey or tsp a call and they should be able to set you up

I was looking on summit's web site and they have some gaskets for 4.000 and 4.190. Would .030 too small be a problem? Would .070 be a problem? What way do I need to go. Thanks.

Obviously Texas Speed has 4.035 gaskets but I was hoping one of the two from summit will work because I get stuff from them in one day. Thanks.

If I were I would just get the tsp gaskets...if you spend the $ for a 408 chances are you should get the tsp...I live in pa and was suprised how fast they shipped (like 3 days for a head/cam kit)

Summit does have a 4.030 gaskets. I didn't find them when I first posted this but since have. Only down side is they are $100 per gasket vs. $35 for both. Big differance.

Does anyone have input? Will the 4.000 cause a problem? I can save a good deal of money and still get a gasket that everyone says is great. Thanks.

You don't want a thin peice of gasket sticking out into the bore area at all. All that does is ask for trouble
