Default Info For Best Gears

Currently looking for an improvement in my gear situation. Right now riding with the stock 3.23s....thinking about 4.10s but the car is however driven roughly 2-3 days a week in the summer depending on weather conditions. School is 10 miles away and work is 5 miles away, would 4.10s kill my mpgs with the A4? The camaro does see quite a bit of drag strip use.

I assume your still running a 26" tire?? That and with an A4 I would say 3.73,but then again I am biased!! An yes your fuel mileage will suffer from 4.10s..not saying it won't a little bit with 3.73s but not that much!!

Yea 26'' tire, would it wake it up in the 1/4 mile though? The car does not have to be driven alot but i would like to wake it up bc it seems sluggish out of the hole.

Yes 3.73s will definitely wake it up with that size tire!! Unless you have a big cam I think 4.10s in an A4 is alittle to much gear..but everybody has different preferences..read through the gears an axles section, there's a lot of threads from this sort of stuff in there!!

I run 4.10's in my 94. Not in anyway a daily driver. That matched to 3600 convter is a nice combo. If I was running it everyday up and down the interstate I'd keep the 3.23's. There's money to be spent else where. 4.10's in a 10 bolt are some weak gears. It really is a preference.

When I switched to 4.10 in my M6 I dropped my 60' .2+ which dropped my et .4. I plugged your info in the f-body.org gear calc and with 4.10s your good to 108 mph in 3rd @ 5700. Sounds good to me.

3.73 would be your best overall gear for a A4

I went from 2.73s to 3.73s and that was a nice difference and must for a shitty stock gear. If I were you and had stock 3.23s. I either step up to 4.10s otherwise your not going to feel that much of a difference over stock, or keep the gears and get a converter.3.23s to 3.73s is not a big difference at all.... If you get 3.73s I bet you'll be like "oh, not much of a difference except the wasted $.....****..."
