Carbureted LSX forum - Remember to check everything...

I was out in the garage taking the nitrous plate off (BTW, complete plate kit is for sale) and decided to check something that has been bugging me. Am I actually getting full throttle?

I have been suspecting that I wasn't getting full butterfly opening on the secondaries. I was right.

I trapped 111mph with almost no secondaries!

So I took the TV cable off and tried again.

ALMOST perfect. So, I adjusted the linkage and reattached the TV cable.

Better, but still not there. This will take a little more work to get right. I believe I am getting a bit of flex in the cable sheath, so I will shorten the overall length and see if I can improve things.

You have to love it when you find things like this. Your first thought is, WOW, how fast could I go NOW, lol. The E.T. is in the details, deffinately. Eric L

I always check that on every build, hope you see some noticeable difference.

I really thrashed to get my car to the track before winter hit and I managed to skip a lot of important steps. This one in particular kept bugging me all winter. It's going to be hard doing a back to back since I'm changing so many things on the car. New cam, losing 400lbs, exhaust revision and hopefully some different gears. I'm also going to have plenty of time to be a bit more thorough.

Ta hell with back to back testing, just promise us you'll blow out a 10.XX next year, lol. Dont fret it, your build thread was one of the most interesting reads on here. IMHO, your doing great, keep up the good work. Eric L

Thanks! That build thread is still active. I update it when I get some meaningful work done, but the photography is suffering. Recently upgraded my gear. Not willing to use a $5,000 camera and lens combo in the garage! So, Iphone it is. I'm hoping for one clean 11.49, then it's off to save some $$$ for a cage before I run a 10.x.

Oh, and using my Iphone to take that video of the secondaries worked really well. Better than having my wife push the pedal and trust that she is pushing it all the way down....

Wow 1970, as least you found the problem at all! thanks for sharing your pain, hopefully a lot of people can learn from your misfortune. I know I'll be sure to check my linkage actuation when the time comes.
