looks like 3.905 with the .005 being the tolerance or final hone.

Not sure what you are implying about your post. I do have these tools already. My question not how to measure or even what tools I need to measure the piston.

My question is I order 3.905 bore piston and is this normal spec for these piston?

Thank you Mako ... That what I am seeing to... I guess I need to send these piston back. I did not want a finally bore of 3.910 but rather a close 3.905 finally bore.

you have the right pistons for a 3.905 bore. the rings are 3.905+.005 file fit rings. they are oversize so you can file fit them to the clearance you want.

That's why you get the pistons then you do the final bore size...not the other way around.

If you set the bore then try to stuff a piston in there you're going to have this very problem. But if you had gotten the pistons first and had the machine shop spec the bore for them then it would've been fine.

You are correct .I am doing this as well. That why the block has a roughy bore and his not been final bore untill the piston where here. My question was asking the forum is this label right or wrong. I want a 3.905 bore motor and not a 3.910. No matter what is said in a forum my machine shop will do hats right for the motor..

which is it? you had it bored to 3.905? or is it rough bored to 3.900 and still waiting on a final hone? did you already have it honed to 3.905 before ordering the pistons?

if you had it bored, not honed and are trying to fit 3.905 pistons in it, its obviously going to be tight. what size was the bore you are trying to test fit them in?

something is not adding up.

It's a rough bore and had not been final honed yet.. My question is on the label.. Is show 3.905+5 = a3.910 bore size.. If that te case then I have the wrong pistons for my motor.. As I found out today they are the wrong piston and some of the piston mic way smaller then other .. According to mahle and summitracing this box of piston mite of been mislabel.

Where did you measure it at? You need to measure it on the skirt, 90 degrees from the wrist pin.

it seems that if you have these tools already then you could measure and know for sure if you have the right pistons or not. am I missing something?

Here is the question I asked /\. Here the point I don't understand .

I post a photo of spec of piston that I have bought . I asked is this a set 3.905 or 3.910 set of piston by the spec On the photo I posted .. . I do not know know how the links you posted help.. All I asked was for some else to translate the spec for me. I wanted to see if I was reading the spec right.
