I am looking to build a all motor C-5 Corvette with around 600 at the crank. I know the factory cranking rods and pistons won't handle it. Can I keep the factory heads or do I need to go with after market heads? I already have a 90 mm going through a fast intake and 2 inch long tube headers. What compression should I shoot for and what cam options do I have. I really don't want to much lope. I would also like to stick with 5.7 and not punch it out if I don't have to. Any advice gentlemen. I'm shooting to spend about 8K on this project.

600bhp is a bit above 500rwhp which the LS1/LS6 will handle. You'll need to stroke/bore it though.

You will def need aftermarket heads!

No way it's gonna happen without stroking it and getting a sick heads, cam, and intake combo. I can be done but you have to have your combo planned out accordingly. Make sure you get a clutch that can handle the power.

I stroked my LS1 on my trans am last year to a 383. All forged internals and a cam spec'd for nitrous with stock 241 heads put down 453/432 through a auto after its initial tuning. After break in it probably would have made more and if it was a six speed it probably would have made around 465-470 and even more with a good set of heads. Drive train loss isn't gonna be much in a vette so your goals will be easy to reach.
