Question new motor woes

hey everyone, I have just completed my 02 ss 383 build and I have a base tune from my tuner so that i could put some miles on it. But I have taken it out twice now and both times it wont idle, and after it warms up it surges sputters kicks and barely stays running. The rpm gauge quits working intermittently and everything. Is this all tuning or did I miss something during the install?

Check the grounds that get bolted to the back of the cylinder head.

Need to know what codes you have. One of these codes is likely going to give you a clue to whats going on..

Did you check the ground to the frame rail by the alternator?

Best to have someone scan the car before you wreck your new motor.

I only have one ground on the back of the head, where are the other ones? Could this have anything to do with the smog hose that is disconnected from the throttle body? It was cracked and bad so I just plugged the port off. I also have no cats. Any thoughts will be appreciatted

I agree with poltergeist. Mine had more than one on the rear of the driver's head if I'm not mistaken. I think 2 or 3. I remember cussing like hell trying to break the bolt free and that's why a remember.

Yeah Im going to look for the other ground tonight. I talked to my mechanic who works at the tuner today and he said that there is 2 grounds on the back of the drivers side head. Then I'll pull the plugs to see if I fouled them or not.
