Midwestern Members - Chicago Shoutout

Spring time is right around the corner (or well it seems like it is, hopefully there won't be any crazy snow out of no where!) so I figured we could get together a Chicago/NW Suburbs thread going. Post up any meets you want to get going or shows you suggest. I live in Elk Grove Village and theres a few shows around here. A lot of import stuff though it seems like, they will always have huge meets but I never can seem to find any big meets unless its a open house at a shop like Speed Inc or something like that. I want to try and change that this summer and get some huge crazy f-body meets to show those imports who's got the real man cars out there haha! So do I have any soldiers ?

Let me know what's up, I'm at NW Chicago. I'm looking for some meet spots, I sometimes go to the White Castle on Thursday's on Belmont and Harlem during the summer.

IF, and thats a big IF, I can get the ole lady to finish the paint work on my junk it will be ready to roll out till the bottom end blows. If not, then well I guess I will just go out with the primer patches in place... All go and no show??? Anyhow, I am in for something.

I am in the Hoffman Estates area, but work out of EG. Should do a tilted kilt meetup or something along those lines. There used to be a huge Fbody scene in this area.

i post all the time about midwest F-body meets and we have 2 track rentals for drag racing along with road america once a year for road course racing.

you want "meets", or just plain show & tell? There is a nice cruise on Friday nights in Palatine- at the old menards which is currently wolfs flea market. I live down the street from there and usually is a nice turnout for f-bodies. Hell, maybe I might have a post-show get together.

Whatever really, just get a bunch of F-Bodies in a lot. Shoot the shit and then maybe cruise?

Strats is a bit played out.... Too many people who think they have the king shit street car. You cant roll in there camming without people mean mugging you and expecting you to run, and WAY too many PO POs out in the area.

Yeah, as long as it doesnt fizzle out. Tried to get some things going last year and when the day came around we had like 2 guys, me and one other guy, and we just said to hell with it.

My car isnt in show condition at the moment, so a cruise in or just a meet up would be ideal.

Alright well I think if anything we all show up at Streets of Woodfield one night. I know there is usually parking around there and it used to be a pretty hot spot for all sorts of cars on Friday/Saturday nights. A lot of bikes hang out up there too. If anything it could just be somewhere to get things started and work from there. I think that's one of the biggest problems stuff like this has is actually just getting activity from people and organization. We could all talk more about it once we are all there instead of having to chit chat back and forth on the forum.

Might have to test the waters at streets. Expecially for those in the group that might be running loud exhaust, no front plate, and any other minor infractions. I know the Cops shut down the huge friday night things for awhile as too many Doorknobs doing holeshots and doughnuts in the lot with all the pedestrian traffic. Not sure what its like as of late.

Yeah I hear ya except I don't think everyone here is stupid enough to be pulling any sort of stunts like that. You do have a point though that Hooters and Tilted Kilt aren't far at all. Tilted Kilt is a pretty small lot though I don't think there would be enough room to even park next to each other with it being a busy night and all.

If something gets planned for later in the summer, I'll bring my LS6 powered M3 out. It's just not done yet though. What I'm looking forward to also is the annual BMW Club swap meet/car show at ZF in Vernon Hills. I want see the look on the purists faces when they see my engine.

As for the Streets comment I made, last I heard that they were harrassing anyone trying to hang out. But that was 2 years ago. Not trying to say anyone of us would pull something stupid, but then again, you never know. Just cause someone is a member. doesn't automatically give them common sense at a meet and greet. As long as you guys don't give me too much shit for the primer on my junk it will be there. Unless I can crack the whip and get my painter to actually finish what she started.

A little South for most of you guys but Morris, IL has 4 car shows a year and they are great! They block off the whole strip (downtown Morris is actually huge), and there are usually about 600 cars....very little rice. $10 to get in but it all is for charity.....if your into the 50/50 raffle it gets up to $5,000.

We're neighbors. I only went to that meet once but they always have it once a week, it's nice and everyone is real friendly. I lived on Belmont/Narrgansett but just recently moved out with my gf and now stay on Grand/Harlem.

I will bring my mustang out when the weather warms up. It has a twin turbo LS motor so I should fit in with the mustang and f-body guys.

The on-season seems to have arrived. The weather is great! I'm at home playing with carbs now, but did have the car out earlier. Anyone on here own a yellow C5 and cruising on Cicero near Pratt this evening? Car sounded nice. I was in the silver Nova.

Well I WAS going to have mine out today to get the cobwebs outta her, but the plates are expired. Now I have to track down the paperwork since I moved over the winter.

Should be all squared away for the meet up. Primer spots and all. Waiting on the wifey to get her new paint booth installed at her shop in the next few months for the new coat. Ahwell, at least she runs like a bat outta hell right?

Hey everyone. Im from the Round Lake area. As long as it doesnt rain I will try and make it.

I'm out of Elgin but my car is still apart. My goal is to have everything completed by May 12th.
1. New Kirkey Pro drag seat going in
2. New 4 wheel disk brakes (Mark Williams drag brakes)
3. Subframe connectors removed (completed)
4. Both wastegates rebuilt (completed)
5. Torque converter sent out and tightened up (completed)
6. Tranny filter and fluid changed (completed)
7. 12 bolt fluid changed out
8. LCA's lightened by removing material
9. LS9 Head gaskets swapped (may wait on this for mid year or fall)
10. New wastegate springs (needed to hold more boost beyond 23PSI)
11. Retune for 28PSI (may wait on this this for mid year or fall)

A few more things needing work till I'm back on the road.

Well I hope to see everyone there. I just through on a set of chrome zr1's. My car is red and has CAMARO across the windshield. I'm a younger guy, I'll be parked on over by Dick's Sporting Goods and I'll try to find a good amount of open spots.

Villa Park is a far cry from Chicago... Too far north for me plus the car isn't up to par yet. Maybe another time.

I ended up going with the 3 inch adjustable stainless steel quad tip borla catback.

I still vote meet at Streets of Woodfield then cruise to Strats. I have heard that Strats has been ridiculously packed the last few weeks with cars and it's almost tough to find a parking spot. My opinion the more cars the better though.

I heard something about that at the end of last season but didn't know it was for sure. But I agree, Palatine was my limit so I too will be taking a pass on Mundelein. Looks like I'll be sticking to the Niles or Rosemont spots on Fridays now, I just wish they were bigger events.....maybe they'll grow now that Palatine is gone. I miss the Kirchoff and Meijer spots, those were some awesome shows.

Yeah I stopped going after they moved it from Meijer.. Also the guys running that show were starting to be come bigger and bigger D bags saying they werent going to let in LS Swapped RX7s, then the next week they hosted a Nissan group.

I say we try to find a small food joint with a nice lot. I found a spot over the weekend that I never thought of not too far from my house except the restaurant is mainly made for people that work in the industrial park and it closes at 6 on the week days and closed on weekends. I'm not sure if they would be too happy with us there when its closed.

If they are closed I don't see why it would be an issue. Cept eg cops suck.

I am out on strats guys, not my thing! Way to many kids there and stupid shit going on, woodfield was cool till we got kicked. I say we just pick a spot and if we can get enough cars together we go on a highway trip with a little friendly action.

We did a north side/south side meet up a few years ago that was fun. Too bad Little88 still hasnt gotten his junk done, cause he organized the southside boys, and we got the north side boys together and met up down by them. But the drive there and back was the best part. A few friendly runs here and there. We left 4 wide from a toll booth... that was quite interesting.

Why not just pick the hooters in Schaumburg. they have a fairly large parking lot and off to the side there is usually an empty lot as well with low street visability. Meet up, BS for awhile, then roll out to wherever.

Strats is fun if your looking to find a run, but other than that, I am with SweetC5. Not my scene. Most of the people there aren't even legal to drink, no offense to those in this thread. But for some of us older guys, it gets annoying. Seems like all it takes is for a spark and something is gonna pop off there. Last time I was there someone was jumpin on hydros and almost hit the group I was there with, including my car. Jail time was all I was thinking.... Could have been ugly... Havent been back since.

Photo's was great. I was there almost every Saturday night from 1998 till 2008, but after '05 or so the show was pretty much dead. The crowd mostly moved to the Mt. Prospect train station by rt. 83 and Northwest Highway. Then there is an "after show" at the McDonalds at Golf Rd. and rt. 83.

The Rosemont spot on Friday's is at the McDonalds at River Rd. and Higgins.

All of these locations are mostly old cars. On the nights when I bring one of my Camaros, sometimes I'm the only 4th gen in sight.
