i think the 408 iron block costs about 1K less than the 402 aluminum, at least from texas speed anyway. 408 FTW

Your going to waste money on working over 5.3 heads man. Start with a better flowing head that has bigger valves

tmoney223
02-16-2012, 08:35 AM
Lol. There is plenty of guys making power with these heads.

I think what he is getting at is, you will be leaving a decent amount of power on the table with the 5.3's. Yes, guys are making power with them but why not step up to some better flowing heads that will not only make a lot more power but better suit that FAST 102 & 370. The 5.3's IMO are a good budget head and would match up better with a set up like mine. I know money plays a big key roll. I guess if you can afford to step it up, definitely do so. The gains will be well worth it.

Yes! Thank you Todd:thumb:If I had the money is the key:-). I know I'm leaving a ton but this is what I have to work with.

Good thing is, you can always sell me your 5.3's REALLY cheap and upgrade in the future :)

Oh, but it is so much lighter on the front end ... 100+ lbs.

OP ... what cam are you moving all that air with? IMO most of the posters are correct, the 5.3's will be leaving alot on the table. Post up some #'s when you get it together. I have been thinking about a similar 102/102 setup for my 402, but it seems these combos don't make the torque. I don't want to lose my 500 ft-lbs.

Same what my camaro had. And i changed my heads with texas speed 2.5 heads

It will be a 247-255 .631-.631 113+3 EPS cam.

Looking good, man! How long 'till it's all together??

Also....where'd you score the LSXR? I'm looking for one for my DD now.

.

its actually 70 lbs, which is not to bad of a trade off since its so much stronger and less expensive. but to each their own. i dont exactly like the thought of more weight either
