Drag Racing Tech - M6 4:30's and slicks question

I'll be getting tuned shortly and I figure it should put down 480-490 rwhp. I have 4:30's and a spool in my 12 bolt. I've been using 27" Hoosier QTP's but I'm switching to MT et drags. Should I go with the 26" stiff wall or 28" stiff wall? I figure if I use the 28" tires I'll have to go to 4:56's.

You and I have very similar setups. Same hp, same gears, same trans etc..
Unless you have a good double adjustable shock in the rear, I'd steer away from the 26's. The 26's don't have enough sidewall for a stick car IMO. I tried some 26" ET streets, but it would just collapse the sidewall on the launch and then immediatly unload the suspension. Even tried running higher tire pressures with no luck. Got some slow motion video somewhere showing how it reacts.
I'm currently running 28x10.50 stiff. I've been out of the racing scene for a few years but this year I plan to make some changes and get out there again.

I'll be running 4.30s through a MWC 9 and built LS7 560 rwhp 28" stiff wall.

I ran 430s on 28, didnt real see a gain going to 456s, but I did about 20 other little things too. 456s Ive never seen my shiftlight come on going 129.98 with it set at 6500, so I think @ 7K I could go 135?

28 stiff for sure with the stick and a 4.30 at your power level no question about it.
You probably won't need the 4.56 gear, unless the car is really heavy.

Im curious to know what 4:56s and a bottle would do.

Probably run out of gear unless you race 1/8th mile.

4.11's or 4.30's on the bottle no more gear than that unless you plan on turning 7500+

Or if the car is 4500 lbs, in that case it probably wouldn't run out (won't go fast enough)

Kinda off topic but I should be able to go 134MPH @ 7200...Thats with a 28.5 tire. That would be 8mph more than I am now. I have 4:10s now and crossing at like 5900-6000 now. With just a gear swap and some weight loss I dont think Ill pick up that much but will see ;)

Race Weight? How much power are we talking?
Nitrous likes to be lugged whether you believe it or not. It makes torque plain and simple. Revving it to 7200(your going to have to rev it more than that I'm thinking) is well and good, but I'd be more than positive you'd run better with a 4.11 or 4.30 on a moderate(150-250) shot of nitrous. Getting up to 250 all the time and more than that I'd go 4.11 or 3.89 even.
If spraying the car isn't something your going to do a lot, and you plan on running it a lot on motor all out then the 4.30's and 4.56's even would be better. If it's something you drive on the street a lot though, and spray at the track you'd be better off with the lower numeric gear set giving you better mpg and picking up more on the bottle.

Since I have an 1/8-mile track 40 minutes from the house, I will be shaking mine down on 27" QTP's and will jump up to a stiff wall 28" drag if I can't get off the line and muster a decent 60'.
djfury05 ... we will have to meet at Commerce sometime when I get a roll bar installed.
