Other Special Events - G16 Fbody Gathering - May 25-27 - Atlanta, GA

This will be my 6th year going. This will be my 3rd car I bring, and hopefully the last. This is such a fun event for everyone going, even if you don't own an F-Body. Scott Settlemire (lead Fbody designer), and many other top GM guys show up. 6LE guys showed up last year. If you are in the South, (or anywhere for that matter, 6LE made the trip from California) then you need to come to this event. One of the best I've attended. Lots of discounted stuff for sale. Lots of contests, lots of cruise-ins. The best part is the night parties in the parking lot!! Last year in the bouncy tent, the people in charge got to know me by name, damn that Jagermeister :jest:

Don't let shame stop you, we get cars in primer each year. It is not so much about showing off, its much more about hanging with F-Bod enthusiasts. You will really have to work to NOT make 10 new friends over the weekend.

I'm reasonably sure we'll be bringing down my Drag Radial car to the gathering as well. We brought it down a couple years ago and had a great time!

Same spot for the last 10 years or so. You have to register to park with the show cars, and to be judged. There is parking available if you just want to stop by and walk around. Just checked out the site, thanks... I'm gonna make sure I register... I live in Atlanta, so I'm not gonna worry about the hotel... Just don't know about partying all night though because then I've got to let my girl drive home lol... :chug::chug::chug:

Details to follow, everyone wants the registration to open earlier each year, but events take longer to organize. We are still looking for clubs to sponsor events, so if you know of one, let me know please. Stay tuned to the site and Twitter for updates.

Can you give some examples of past sponsored events? I ask b/c I can do one day for a car show, but anything more than that and I will be bored. I like to drive vs. look. :)

This is north of dowtown. I mentioned downtown in my post earlier b/c that's where I'll be for business the week before.

All right. I have Friday the 25th off of work. Thinking I will drive up Thursday evening. Now to secure a room. I kinda want to go all out and stay right there at the host hotel.....

All right. Just went and did it! Says they are either sold out or there is no gurantee of the availability of a King size bed. Can you imagine being 6'6" or 6'7" and sleeping on a double bed? Haahahaha! That's gonna SUCK! LOL

Last year was my first year going, kinda sucked as i totaled the SS 2 weeks before the gathering but i have another SS for this years show. Cant wait

If one can only drive up on Friday get there in the late afternoon, stay Saturday and blow out Sunday is this enough time to enjoy the event or should they plan more time?

Friday night is good, Saturday night is great, Sunday is quieter and some folks leave, but the awards/auction is a really good time that most attendees really enjoy. If you have to make the choice of coming for two days vs not at all, them Fri/Sat is best, but if you can push that third night, then chances are you will be happy you did.

Just signed up. Had to miss the last 2 years replacing the engine but she is finally up and running.

Question for those that go to the Gathering not from GA or the surrounding states:

How many people trailer their cars that have a several hour trip not because their cars are trailer queens, they trailer them to avoid any break down issues on the road? Just wondering?

There are usually a few cars trailered there. I only live alittle over a hour away and I'd trailer my car if I had one just cause traffic sucks. One year I got sideswiped by someone that hit and ran. Etc

If I had the option of trailering I would! No truck or trailer here, so I-85 here I come in my TA.

I'll swing by Friday afternoon, but then back to Knoxville after a few hours. I'll be in my pimp Oldsmobile - oh yeah!

Got back from paint/body shop. fix to rocker panel and rear bumper can be done before g16.
hopefully I can rip out a cam, put in a new one along with an intake/fuel rails and new tb. Now its a 100% vengeance SS :)

They should group all them together. They win all the local car shows. They have a 30th anniversary also, so that might be there as well. I hoping to see a new ZL1 in person. wish GMMG was around to play with these cars.

You can count on seeing at least one ZL1 at the Gathering!

Really excited to make as this will be my first year. Bringing my Black M6 '01 WS6 and was trepid about bringing a stock car with peeling clearcoat but if this event is half as badass as I keep hearing it will be worth it to meet passionate owners who can teach me a thing or two. I'm looking forward to getting votes from viewers on my photoshop build mockups and getting opinions on how I should build the car.

Had a great time again. Only bad experience was skipping Dave and Busters because of the huge wait lol. Maybe we should make a reservation for 100 next time. :)

We went to Dave and Busters an hour early to beat the rush. By the time the group had gotten there the wife and I had already eaten and we took the time to take some pics in the parking lot. I took a ton of pictures. I will post some up, but I will be here all night if I try to post them all. Had a good time.

Had a blast, got to put some names to faces and enjoyed walking around and looking at all the cars. And to top it off I got a Runner up Award for the Modified Camaro Class and my buddy got a Runner UP award for Super Modified in the Trans Am Class, that was pretty cool!

I hope everyone that was at the show comes back to the forum so they can see how much I appreciate everything the organizers, judges, sponsors, attendees, and venue had provided for us!

I drove 1015 miles from Aurora IL to Atlanta GA in a bone stock M6 WS6 with peeling clearcoat and they were right it is pretty hard not to get an award and feel appreciated lol!

I met lots of very friendly people but special thanks goes out to Ken from Florida, who will be embroidering my headrests; Andy and Banks from Florida, who I believe drove the convertible Blackbird and one other car for the Hard Luck Award winner; Mark from 101st Airborne and his son for making us feel welcome; Frannie and Andy for putting on an awesome car show and family reunion; and the Chadlover fellas for the bags, beer pong, and moonshine cherries!

Expect to hear from me a lot in the near future as I am eager to get started preparing for next year's gathering! I would like to donate some custom banners to the organizers to auction off for G17 so if someone could fill me in on how to contact them that would be much appreciated.

A couple other fun things-Forgot the name of the passionate GM rep but my gf and I agreed we thought it was Buddy's dad from the movie "Elf"; also the head judge (bless his heart and thank you for the award) reminded me of the coach from "Major League"!

Hey Alex it was great meeting ya bro, Hope you had a safe drive home. Let me know when you want to do those head rests, and remember the ls2 heads and cam if you are interested. Going to start a 408 build for the car in the coming weeks. Keep in touch bro!
